I had an awesome time. I would've stayed down on the floor with you guys that were down there, but my right ear was seriously starting to hurt. So about an hour or so before PvD stopped, I followed Nick up when he left the floor and went and found Anthony since I'd left him back by the stairs.
There was some girl dancing back there that was fucking awesome. And there were some that were terrible. Especially the fat dudes that were tryin' to bust a move.
Glad I got to meet ya all. I'm sure I'll make it back up to Chicago again for another show in the near future.
wow, i had a great time. definately what i needed to finally put me in a better mood. his set was great; his mixing amazing as always, although there weren't enough breaks
. the atmosphere was great, but there were too many pretentious pricks in the crowd for my liking.
also, i just want to say that the highlight of the night was when he took of one of the final scratch vinyls and put on another way. wow; definately put a smile on my face.
My gf and I left at 3:30 cuz we were so exhausted we were pretty much falling asleep while dancing....sucks to hear we missed 'Nothing But You' cuz I was looking forward to hearing him play it again after last years show.
Partial tracklist compiled from a few threads (I tried to put in somewhat order):
Digital Pressure - Aftershock (Paul van Dyk Re-Edit)
Nu-NRG Connective
Paul van Dyk vs Second Sun - Crush
Agnelli & Nelson pres. Ultra - Holding On To Nothing
Wolfsheim Wundervoll (Blank & Jones remix)
PVD Connected
Modulation - Spirits (Cosmicman Remix)
Carlo Resort vs. 4 Strings Unknown (I have the 1 sided vinyl from early this year but it doesnt have a name on itnot sure if it has a name now or if its on the new 4 strings album)
PVD Feat. Vega 4 - Time Of Our Lives (PVD Club Mix)
PVD - Nothing But You
PVD Another Way
New Order Confusion (Remix ?)
Three Drives Carrera 2 (Nu-NRG remix)
PVD Feat. Vega 4 - Time Of Our Lives (Time to Chill Mix)
Encore: Paul van Dyk vs Second Sun Crush (remix?)
Tracklist Help Please!
PVD was fin ridiculous. He came out banging and didnt stop for 2.5 hours. I could NOT stop dancing. It was way too packed but on the floor in the front it really wasnt that bad. Everyone I talked to (mostly PVD fanatics) were amazed as well and were all saying it was the best theyve heard. I think it was better than last summers Riviera setwhich until now was the best set Ive ever seen from any DJ. It was a bit harder and more driving than this other sets Ive heardyet still very PVD-ish. It was cool to hear him play about 20 minutes of techno. I wish I knew some more of the track names. The energy in the place was amazingmakes me wonder why Chicago is considered so anti-trance. The best parties of the last year have beenPVD, Tiesto, Arminall trance.
There was some track he played exactly at 3:30am that I think was the best track of the night. I really want to get the name - all I know is it had a very heavenly synth sound. It was 2 tracks before one that kept saying energize your soul. Maybe someone can ID based on my great description
I thought Johnny did a great job closing. Considering he doesnt spin trancehe had to go out and buy some trance tracks since he had to follow PVD (I cant even imagine the pressure involved with doing this). Im sure its pretty hard to tell just how loud it is on the floor when you are on the HOB stageisnt that what the sound guys in the back are for anyway? I know he played these (I think they were his last 2) -
Rafferty & Kershaw We are Connected
Cern Baileys (GTR)
All in all an amazing night. Cant get enough PVD.
Nice its great to see part of the tracklist
Another memorable track for me of the night was when he played The Lost Brothers-Cry Little Sister(club mix?)pretty early into his set. My friends and I went nuts. I remember hearing judge jules spin it in some of his sets and haven't heard it anywhere else until saturday night.
I'm so fucking smiling right now I had the best weekend ever
even if I had a 12 hour delay on my flight back home and well .... I'm home monday afternoon instead of sunday night cause of stupid weather etc ....
more extensive review later
I need to crash
which of these tracks were ones with vocals? i remember hearing one with soaring female vocals, and another one with male vocals but dont know the track titles...they were played about 1:45 (female one) and 2:15 (male one)if that helps

I think the tracklist is a bit out of order...
let me dig through my brain some more...
he opened with Digital Pressure - Aftershock (Paul van Dyk Re-Edit)
then nu-nrg - connective
I gotta think some more on the rest...
I gave up like 12 tracks in on keeping things in order tho :P and even now...
i believe he also played Modulation - Spirits (Slusnik Luna Remix)... someone correct me if i'm wrong but i've been trying to figure out a certain song he played and i'm pretty sure it's that one. it sounds nothing like the Cosmicman Remix though...
he dropped that track @ einheitsrave modulations - spirits (cosmicman rmx)
sounds right to me

Yeah, my order could be off...I basically tried to split them out based on what I heard when I was upstairs (first part) to when I was on the floor.
Can anyone else add to the list?
Do you guys think it was better than the Riv? The Riv has been my favorite...til now.

Wow...just looking at those pics, it's all dudes! Too bad. One of the attractions of these events is getting to see the latest in female fashion.

a great show
not as strong as other pvd shows i've seen and tbh, he played half of his reflections album which was not as strong as otab
nonetheless, a good show. the sound was a bit tingy but the atmosphere was rocking
it was good to see all the TA's at the dinner and at the show! garfield, nick, tom, it'll be sad not partying with you guys no more but hopefully you guys can carry on the tradition in chicago and make it grow until i come back in a couple years!
to the new TA's, the best of luck, this was probably my last show in chicago for a while
pork!
Last track he played was "Second Sun - Crush (Paul van Dyk Edit)" if my researching is correct...
I heard the Slusnik and Luna mix of Spirits yesterday and I don't think he played that.......
I would have had more fun if it wasn't as loud (apparently there was a problem with the sound system that caused there to be too much treble!?) and if it wasn't as crowded... oh well still it was a slamming set, really enjoyed watching him let loose with the techno-trance tracks...... really nice.
