dude, beer is not happiness. not for you, not for anyone.

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Nov-21-2003 18:29:

i think it is an unfortunate fact of modern life that many ppl. (myself included) seem to not really want/appreciate what they have and want what they can't have

Posted by MERTON on Nov-21-2003 18:35:

Stolichnaya Vodka, ever heard of it? That's the last thing I drank... it was back in... erm... January

I drank vodka and I had the same result.
I thought I was in love (I was mistaken because I was focusing my happiness more than hers) and I had the same result.
I ate my favourite meal and I had the same result.
...
And let's face it: it's the same for all of us.

Why don't you turn it into an endless source of profit then? This way, not only you would have beer but everything money can buy

It may even include buying a new liver, unless your liver has extreme self-healing capacities (they heal themselves, but there's a limit).
And, unless you drink alcohol-free beer, but I don't think that's the case.

Bah, children all.

Posted by Orbax on Nov-21-2003 19:34:

and lemme give you this analogy. Your life starts off as a perfectly round piece of coal. Dull, lusterless, but safe, going one way is just as easy as another.

As you grow up you get responsibilities these take the form of pressure, they make you show your true self. Every aspect of your life gets carved into you. Things you do too much of are gouged into the surface, an ugly scar. The things you never try are undeveloped lumps giving you an unformed, unfinished appearance.

Some people only work on those things that others will see. They will have this glittering facade while the entire backbone of their life is a pathetic waste, their fear of the new, the unique, and of others' judgments.

Some people have the balls to go through life and try everything. Push the limits, but do it right, they dont go too far.

im sure you can see where Im going with this. Diamond analogy. Without the pressures of life youll be a dull piece of shit that no one cares about. You get some pressure and can withstand it...great. Who wants a round diamond? Only by carefully crafting yourself and having gotten many experiences can you shape yourself into a well formed life.

Yeah, I drink, and without that one little facet out of my hundreds, i would be less happy. I could also stop watching anime, not hang out with friends, and stop working out.

At least I eat well, and eat liver replenishing supplements and foods.

and actually I usually only have 1-2 beers a night. Sometimes i wont eat and have a couple of Duvels or take some shitty vodka shots, but i dont actually drink that much. i just have fun with what I got.

So when I say you are doing something wrong it means youre drinking too much, yah fuck. Keep getting hangovers? Drink less, and dont be such a miserable wank when youre sober it takes you getting SMASHED to be having fun. I can go into party mode without ever taking a shot and have tons of fun. If you mentality towards fun is dependant on vast quantities of alcohol, id say YOU have the problem.

So dont try to be high and mighty. Ive done more, seen more, and lived more than most people twice my age. Im not stupid or lacking in judgment either.

So, you can stop preaching to me kthnx.

Yours truly,

I eat therefore I shit.

That's my philosophical thought for the hour, kthnxbye.

Agree: the more knowledge you have, the better it is for you... so far, there's nothing different from what I had said.

You wouldn't be less happy, you would be less dependent: true happiness wouldn't need beer to be strengthed.

What for? No way you can compare friends, art and exercise with beer. With friends you can share your knowledge and time; with art, you can learn new things and have new self-discovering experiences; with exercise, you work both your body and mind.

When did I say you drink too much? You just said that your happiness was based on something that it's not yours and I said that this sort of happiness is temporary.

But I don't even drink anymore... and for the record, I've had just one hangover in my entire life.

But I'm saying that you don't need alcohol to have fun, how can it be similar to "fun is dependent on vast quantities of alcohol"?

I was just giving Vivid my point of view on why I think it's bad to link happiness to certain material things. I just didn't agree with what you said (reason why I used your example), does it mean I'm trying to be high and mighty? I just had a different opinion. If you consider yourself happy this way, why would I want to change you?

Age is not related to experience and I never said you were stupid or lacking in judgement. In fact, if you were lacking in judgement, you wouldn't have written that post.

I disagreed with something you said because of what Vivid had said. Besides, I don't know you from Adam, how would I be able to judge you? If you read my post again, you'll realise that I only used your name because you said something about beer and I thought I could use it as an example.

However, if you found it offensive, I'm sorry. I just meant to show Vivid Boy another point of view. If you took it as a critic, don't worry, it is not.

edit: sighs removed...

Dang, Llama, lighten up. Did you spend like an hour creating an Orbax bash or something? I think the *sighs* business signals us that you're a flaming homo.

How can I be flaming if I'm telling him that by no means I meant to offend him? The reason I sighed so much is because he said things that I wasn't even thinking of. I wasn't expecting him to take it so personally.

Would someone please enlighten me and say what sounds like bashing? I'm trying to apologise here for any misunderstanding after all.
