-- What song/party/friend got you started on trance?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
I don't no which song actually got me into trance/electronic music but I've done some research and found the first tape I bought with electronic music on it. It's called Techno-Trance vol.1 and it's from 1992. (I think people from Holland will know it). It features songs by The Ultimate Seduction, Speedy J, LA Style, Capella, The Prodigy, Human Resource and some remix of 2 Unlimited's Twilight Zone.
Jeez, didn't know that tracks were that old!!!
How time passes by!
Later!
diving faces by liquid child got me hyped(wax and jakarta mix) also take u high by pulsdriver..
Mizzzzz
I've always liked electronic music but I used to listen to commercial house and techno... err remember Snap and Real to Reel and Culture Beat, and cooler stuff like Afrika Bambaata (err can't remember the spelling) remember that song Feel The Vibe.. hehe memorieeeeez...
I really got into trance like two years ago from looking at rave flyers for ideas for some graphic project I had.. I was like coolz lemme check it out.. Way back in earlier nineties there was a dj called Dr. Trance on the radio but I think psychedelic trance was more popular before epic trance but I got really into it when Oakey was just about the most popular dj ever and Dj sakin and before PVD took off...
It's funny how all of u mention Children, that and Born Slippy are all time favourites for me as well... gives me chills when I listen to them..
Dun you guys wonder what from today is gonna be classics tommorow.. weeeeird
latez...
Robert Miles's Children! Also, i'm from the States, is Gabber REALLY popular in europe? Its "underground" here
Positiva, to be real honest, in Holland Gabber has been TOO popular. In the mid 90ties it was as popular as r&b and rap are in the States! The immense popularity also was the reason for it's fall. It was becoming too commercial and too corny, so a couple of years ago it dissapeared and TRANCE took it's place!
There really was a conflict going on between 'real' gabbers, wanting their music to stay underground, and sad commercialised pricks, trying to make money out of a hype (which actually is how it always works). Because at a certain point everyone called theirselves 'Gabbers,' even the people who listened to the commercial stuff only, the scene became less more interesting and it fell down as quick as it came up.
Well, it got my attention when Robert Miles came out with Children. But I really got into it like 2 years ago when I heard Antiloop for the first time lol.
It was PVD
Ever since I saw "For an Angel" on AMP back in 98, I wanted to hear more trance.
My first trance CD was tranceport 1(oakenfold), and since then I've been hooked.
:P
Its Paul Van Dyk when he was here in Singapore.Went there and poof, the next day im into TRANCE
I first experience with trance was when I lisented to Gary D. D.Trance It went from Hardcore to trance over the years, so at that point I got hooked up with trance. And of course here in Holland the house scene was already big before trance, Gabber!! It went from Gabber to trance at a surtain point.
Members of Mayday - We Are Different -1994-
The one up there is something great. But for me it was RMB - Spring.
A strange version of Two Tribes from Frankie Goes To Hollywood in 1994. Then in 1998, Windows 98 by Sil. Strangely enough, they were on the same station in Houston that never played alot of trance.
Fave
I remember after my first party last year, as soon as I got in the door I was craving more. I had no idea of what it was, and I had only one thing to go by. Trance. So I fired up good ol' Napster and started a search that lasted several hours. What resulted was a track that I played the hell out of for the next 2 weeks or so.
Ayla - Ayla 99 (Dj Tandu Remix)
I was hooked.
*Jam and Spoon - Tripomatic Fairytales
*Moguai - Torqueflight
*A tape containing DJs Dag and Burner from HR3 Clubnight sent to me by my friend Jay in Germany...
This shit got me hooked for life!!!
peace, tranceface
When I heard Children by Robert Miles on the radio of my car I wanted more (I didn't even know the name of this track till 6 months ago, lol). That must have been who knows 5-7 years ago, then when I began going to clubs in Venezuela "Saturday Night" by Whigfield got me onto dancefloors and I was never to leave again, though in Venezuela (before MP3 era) it was extremely hard to find trance cd's so I spent years looking for stuff until I bumped into a series called "Trance Factory", Encore une Fois was the first song I really liked whose name I actually knew, and then of course came the MP3 :-)
robert miles - children
system f - out of the blue
ayla - ayla
i heard all three of them on the same day from a friend's car and i was into trance since then
