If Robert can maintain his best form consistently he will make the French squad but he is a bit unlucky with someone of Pires's quality in front of him. If Pires gets an injury though you never know.

France's defence is certainly ageing, and one young player to look out for is Newcastle's other Frenchman, left-back Olivier Bernard. IMO he is probably the most under-rated full back in the Premier League. He is still developing his game in terms of positioning but he is rock solid in the tackle, confident on the ball and excellent going forward. He and Robert work together well overlapping down the left flank, as was seen against Arsenal at Highbury this season when they claimed a goal each. With Lizarazu nearing retirement Bernard could be in the French squad within a couple of years IMO.

It's funny you said that about Bernard because the other day iw as telling my dad during the Southampton match on BBC FA cup match about how underated he is. He is so quick and determined he looks a quality player.

I also agree with you about how we'll do. Just like we did in World Cup qualifications,we did the hard job of beating Germany 5-1 away and then we got arrogant, just beat Luxemburg (i think) and then Greece we had to rely on Finland getting a draw at GErmany and were bloody lucky. We will beat france though because Owen, Rooney, Gerrard, Beckham, Scholes, Campbell are all quality players, with all, except Campbell, able to turn the game on the head.

Just worried about Henry, hopefully Terry will play alongsde Campbell, and do good job in keeping him quiet....Neville is a worry against Pires too!

Desailly is getting old, too. And when's the last time Willy Sagnol played for the French team?
Maybe this is the time for people like Christianval to step up.

Heh. I forgot about the Vieri show. I think Italy got one goal out of other players.

theres not a chance in hell italy will finish 3rd in their weak group.

denmark are not that good as england showed in the 2002 world cup by thrashing them and sweden without king henrik are much less of a force to be reckoned with.

bulgaria for me carry more of a threat to italy than both denmark and sweden.

oh no

Your pretty sad to go back and search for that.

I'll hold my hands up and say italy were pants, largely down to shite coaching and inflated ego's.

I bet you took a note of that post just so you could go back and reply to it if we went out.

sad ****.
