-- Greatest artistic mind ever?

When it comes to music, Mozart is simply divine. Not even the 3 Bs can compare to Mozart's ability and accomplishments.
It is said that when Mozart composes, he composes from his head. No corrections are made after he writes that note onto paper. It's as if he's merely copying the entire piece off the top of his head. Amazing.

my favourite Dali painting...surreal
Painting: Rembrandt (IMO)
So sublime and subtle. From afar you see such precise detail, yet from up close you can actually see his brushtrokes on the canvas!
Smart too, he would make etchings, sell them, then he would add some details, say an arch around the subject, and then sell it again.
all the artists mentioned are admiriable for the different sort of work that they have made, for different reasons, appealing to different individuals. And out of those i cannot pick a favourite.
More recently i have seen the Turner Prize Exhibits and Insult to Injury was my favourite out of them.
you cannot see it so well in this pic but it consists of a series of 80 etchings by Francisco de Goya entitled 'Disasters of War' with gawdy and freaky animal heads in bright pastals reworked over the top
i also like Ron Mueck particularly

Angel
1997 silicon rubber and mixed media 110 x 87 x 81 cm
and
Dead Dad
1996-7 silicon & acrylic 20 x 102 x 38 cm
i should share some of my surreal drawing / paintings that i did back in the day...use to be big into art when i was younger...this thread just made me wanna do some more....keep posting up different surreal artist get me more inspired...then ill make something and post it...may take me a few days however
dali was incredible but my fave was from the dutch renaissance period. Anyway greatest artistic mind was probably either picasso or da vinci but most would dispute it. I guess whoever you like is fine.
i have a couple of dali's prints in frames and a van gogh (starry night)....dali was a bit perverted and disturbed...i've been to his museum in tampa, i like his work.
hmmm like someone said before VAN GOGH!!!! his art is great...i would have to say i liked his last paintings before he died. if you have seen them in person, then you understand, when one looks at it you can see how the paint looks and how disturbed he really was. the thickness of the his paintt strokes is just incomprehensible....
i like the frames that renaissance paintings are in, they are really nice.
for music, i have always been partial to Chopin and his nocturnes.
van gogh's self portrait showed how sick mentally he was before his suicide. I like rembrant's work more.
