Holy hell...my bad.
I didn't mean to start shit, it was just a comment. I'm one of the most open minded people I've ever met. Yeah, I laughed at it when I heard it but I'm not naive enough to think that the 3 cds I heard are a decent representation of all of Germany!
I must have written thousands of words in this thread and there's drama about one sentence????
OK
...anyone have any info on hostels? economically, are they more feasable than getting a hotel or an apt for the first month or two of my stay?
...it doesn't matter how many people there are on this forum, I would hope that someone would know something about the underground. If someone was to ask about underground forums in Florida on Tranceaddict I would be able to provide at least 3, and several clubs and parties as well. Am I the only person of the 26,000 TAs that could do this?
...And finally...first and foremost I will need a job. Lets assume that I'm getting a work visa, where would be a good place to start?
I'm not really happy with the response I've gotten so far. with the exception of some very nice people, I've mostly gotten negative responses about my move, which is the opposite of what I was hoping for. Is Germany not the right country for what I'm looking for or what?

buy this book, it will tell you all you need to know.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...=glance&s=books
I'm sorry for my cynicism...just an observation though...
There are billions and billions of people in this world...80-some-odd-million in Germany...and I have to spend 20 bucks on a book to find out what it's like over there?
Damn I hate our society.
But I'll prolly buy it eventually.
no wrong, u wont find out it at all with this book either.
it will may help u, but nothing more!
So your situation is:

T...I can more tha fucking assure you that is not what I've done. I just thought that maybe if the German TAs were as nice as the FLTAs then you guys may could help me out some. But I have found this to not be the case. Instead I have found some very cynical people!
If you read the fucking thread you will find that I want to go to Berlin because I'd like to go to the SAE Institue in Berlin for Music Production. I was thinking about London, but I wanted something much more different than they are from the US. So I was thinking aMsterdam but was told by many many people and found from my research that that probally wouldn't be the best place for a student and aspiring musician.
After much research on all the various countries in Europe, I finally decided on Germany and thought that Berlin would be a good choice of home cities since it IS the capital.
I just wanted to ask TA's about their comments and thoughts cus I THOUGHT they would have similar mindstates to my own. I wanted to get REAL opinions about this country and not just the pre-formated ones I have already read off various info sites.
And as far as calling me a crazy American...I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am not a republican or christian or demorcrat or american or caucasion....I AM A FUCKING HUMAN BEING...
I'm so fucking sorry if I want to experience something new. Damn people. Maybe I'll try something else if all of Germany has the mindstate I've receive from my fellow TAs!!!

It might help if people who actually live in Berlin would post in this thread
And I'm quite surprised to see people defend hip hop on a trance board ffs! It's ridiculous.

| as a matter of fact, the whole german music industry tries to gather in berlin nowadays [e.g. the larger labels]and berlin would be the top choice in europe. |

Thank an open-minded person for his open-minded thoughts => but do it by insulting the guys who tried for real in first place |

lol...ok...should I have put the little [HUMOR][/HUMOR] brackets around my last post? lol!
Apparently I've rubbed you GTAs the wrong way, and I am really sorry for whatever I said to do so. To be honest, I'm used to baing able to communicate with everyone I meet really easily and being able to form my words where everyone likes me all the time. When that didn't happen I got really sad, ask the FLTAs!
If you wish you can point out what I said to offend some of you and I'll retrace my thoughts and try my best to fix everything where we can start with a clean slate!

You gotta beleive me, everything I say to anyone that sounds offensive is only meant in jest! I think of you all as my fellow TAs reguardless of the country we live in, and I know that sounds lame and shit, but thats really the way I think...
Peace, love, and many monkeys!
Imma try to keep this up here on the first and second pages...excuse my annoyance
Okay man, I'll try. I won't be of much real help though, since I don't live in Berlin and have no idea about the music industry, the scene, the underground scene and what not.
One thing you have to understand in reading these posts is that an endeavour such as yours is generally regarded as, uhm, brave as someone put it, but really meant is foolhardy. That's a result of German mentality, which is generally not entrepreneurial at all, in any respect. A German wouldn't consider such a move. Americans, however, do that kind of stuff all the time, the mobility just doesn't compare. Like it or not, you are an American, meaning a human being born and raised in America and certain habits or mentalities will just rub off on you. so don't be offended by the lukewarm reception of your idea! I for my part have always admired people jumping into the cold water like that.
So yeah, from an average German's point of view your move is nuts. It probably is. But that's not the point. You decided to do it and you CAN make it a success. THAT's what counts.
To make it a success, you'll have to deal with the bureaucracy bullshit, which we can't help you, since we never had to do any of this over here, obviously. That book is probably your best bet for that kind of shit. Finding work without a permit, dunno if that's gonna happen, rather difficult. In a somewhat private context yes, but not as a hamburger flipper at McD. They want paperwork. Maybe bartender or something?
As for the music scene, the Berlin TA's would be best to give advice. And regarding the SAE institute, fellow Berlin GTA Veracocha attents that, so ask him about it.
Oh, adn dailyife is easy for an English speaker, almost everybody speaks at least a tiny bit, so it is easy to live here for years without a word of German if need be.
Boefore I forget, hostels: good option, cheap, clean and all. Have stayed at 2 different ones myself. Here is a list of Bwerlin hostels:
www.backpacker.de
www.aobackpackers.de (very central)
www.sunflower-hostel.de (very close to Casino
)
www.pegasushostel.de (close to Casino, too)
www.circus-berlin.de
What else? Lets just have a chat at Ultra. PM me your cell# then I can get in touch with you to arrange a meet up somewhere. I'll get there 3/5, in time for PvD@Space.
