tiesto has been around and pleasing crowds a lot longer than armin.....and i really really doubt either of them needs to learn crowd interaction from each other....sheesh

what the f?

you think Armin taught Tiesto??? oh dear oh dear...

Posted by Beemer on Dec-28-2003 23:22:

oh, one other thing that just struck me about all this "he lays claim to number 1 spot.....does tiesto deserve to be number 1?" talk - some ppl act like tiesto himself came out and said "i am the best dj in the world - i deserve number 1 spot!!"....but we need to remember, he's never made a claim like that himself - i've never heard (or read) him be anythin but modest in that department - he's hardly one to bignote himself........it's the fans who've voted him number 1 - so it's hardly fair to expect him to live up to a title which has been bestowed on him by other ppl....he shouldn't be bitched about for NOT being something he NEVER said he was!!!

last time tiesto was here he looked like he'd never played up to a crowd before. This time, he made a point of noticing individuals in the crowd, dancing around a lot more, being much more of a showman, something that armin has always done, and why armin is so popular. maybe he didn't learn it from armin, but it's definately somehting he's learnt in the last two years.

hmmm are u talkin about TT last year?? cos if u are, maybe u had too many chems or sumthin, cos i sure saw a very crowd-friendly tiesto that nite!!

Posted by tubby on Dec-29-2003 00:30:

at TT i saw tiesto giggling and wandering aimlessly, certainly not playing a crowd anywhere near as well as armin. Still, if you guys think it's a skill he hasn't improved on dramatically, well glad you enjoy whatever he does.
and if anyone related to that venue in canberra is listening, how about some ventilation near the stage?

ROFLMAO

really?

Posted by tubby on Dec-29-2003 00:41:

no, not really. I just wrote that to kill 30 seconds at work.
yes, I saw a huge improvement in his ability to play a crowd between the this and the last time I saw him. I find it amazing that so many people who pay attention to this sort of thing didn't notice.

Posted by Beemer on Dec-29-2003 01:00:

hehe i'm over the tiesto posting now....sheesh look at what i'm wasting my 10 days off work on *lol*

and tubby, that venue is never normally used for that kinda event - it's usually a dodgey meat-market for the over 30 crowd - it's not the club we usually go to here.....so don't judge us by that place *lol*

Tiesto went off

The tunes were fkn fantastic, Andy Hunter - Go was a particular highlight!

He seems to have a very unusual mixing style though, I could've sworn at one point he had two records and a CD cued up

The venue seemed a bit dodgy, and yeah it was excruciatingly hot, but the man in command of the music makes all the difference - what a night

Was a bit of an odyssey to make it, had a five hour drive from Newcastle to get there, and then a 3 hours drive back in the morning, but it's all worth it

Bring on Mobile home!

i really liked the venue apart from the heat. easy access to the bar, although getting to toilets behind the stage took some patience, or ruck/mail work. plenty of chillout space, nice balcony, good sized open dancefloor. I'm glad I got out before dawn though, it would have been wierd with all that glass at the back. A better venue than ANU i thought.

well ive finally resurfaced and i have to say that stands easily as the best set ive heard in the last 6 months!! A perfect set that comprised a great combination of uplifting and techtrance tracks, new and old that had me in the front row the entire time (wow what a suprise for me! =P)....

The fact that he played street spirit (even a remix i hadnt heard before) had me going nuts - and i never thought id hear a portishead track in a club (was the track of the night for me!!)....

All round it was a perfect night for me and well and truly made up for the 14 hours of travel i had to put up with beforehand to get their.... mobile home will be something special - heres hoping he wont play too hard!!

I thought so too - especially since I hadn't been paying much attention to trance lately, so hadn't heard it before........and the fact that he mixed the first half of the track down on his knees.....aaargghhh was just such an emotional moment.....beautiful track, with tiesto on his knees behind the decks...ahh, bliss and luckily i managed to get 2 vids of it......

i dunno when gav's gonna put vids up - so, if anybody wants to see em, just drop me a pm and u can grab em off my ftp

(ohhh how tempted am i now to go see him in syd 2morrow...but nooooo, must not spend over $100 of my europe fund....damn it's hard reminding myself that i'll get plenty of chances to see him over there.....hmmm, can we please have a collective TA prayer that he gets put on the Sensation White lineup?? )

dont think that will happen again, but it would be mad if he did. Cant remember the reason but there is some reason why he wont play sensation

The other DJs are just as good tho Armin into Marco v is like a big long tiesto set
