massive84...

couldn't you just use a couple of different versions of the same synth to make it fuller??? i thought that is what all the guys like Haak, Robert, Bren-F, etc do...

ya i guess so, not sure what haak and all do.

a good synth doesn't need 10 substractors, just depends what kinda synth you want..

Thought I'd get in on the fun.

The lead is done with one JP-8000 and one V-Station.

http://members.cox.net/robr/arp.mp3

I've never heard the original so I just made the rest up.

Enjoy! I think my lead sounds pretty similar to the original sample that was posted. Let me know what you think.

Is it only me, or didn't you guys realize the actual artist himself explained how the sound was done? Seems hardly no one noticed!

You could at least thank him for sharing.
BTW this tune is pretty well-known.

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't know if it was actually the person who made the tune or just someone who knows how it was made. The way everyone seems to know how rank 1 made airwave pad.

Thanks for the reply wavemaker (As nobody else said thanks! )

Yes, that's very cool of you wavemaker

If you guys who haven't heard it didn't know - this tune has been signed & released officially, if I'm nto mistaken.

Well, I ain't gonna start posting whole tracks. Enough stuff gets ripped without me helping the cause

For the record, Pulse is one of my favourite hard trance tracks, absolutely rocked the dancefloors for me when I was DJing out a few years back.

Anyway, big thanks to everyone (especially wavemaker) for getting involved on this one.

I find it a bit funny though how this thread only came to life after I posted the MIDI

My fave up to now.

Anychance i could grab the preset for the Vstation.

I have access to a JP8000 at college so if you can be bothered, the settings for that would be greatly appreciated.

I understood the topic point was : how you guys make your massive arp?
But I was wrong .. sorry for bad english .. only MASSIVE thing was negative replies

Offcourse big thanks "wavemaker" for explaining the real deal!

Sorry, I know this thread is pretty old, but I thought I'd take a crack at the synth.

This was made with Fruity 4 using a TB303. I can post it with the beat, bass, and strings if need be.

EDIT: Why isn't my attachment showing up?

it is easy with only a 2osc synth and just a unison fonction.
You can do it with a pro53:

1. The Pro-53 suits this type of leads much better than Wasp do. First, let's turn on both OSC A and OSC B, running both at full force, both oscillators should be set to "saw". (OSC A is already set to this waveform).

2. Time for some fun!, make sure the UNISON mode is on (press the UNISON button so you see a red light), increase the voices to 16, and set the ANALOG knob to 3 o clock.

3. In both the filter and the amplifire section, all knobs can be left untouched, exept the RES knob in the FILTER section, put it at 9 o clock.

4. Press the KBD button and viola, magic!

All voices are now playing at the same time, each and everyone, slightly detuned, this makes the whole sound very phat, and very "trancy", nothing wrong with that, is there?. Experiment with all filter settings, and by all means, the amplifire settings too, for some real sweet surprises. Also try to increase/decrease the numer of voices, play around with the FREQ, PW, and fine buttons, to simulate anything from the leads of Push to Dumonde. Fun huh?

Now, that should keep you bussy for a while. After creating all these sounds, remember to experiment a bit with all the settings to see what they do, afterall, that's the most effective way of learning things in the first place. Good luck with your future productions!

just enjoy!
have a look on www.trance.nu, there are some tutorials to make the rank1 - airwave sound, or the ferry sound

Does anyone know of any places I could possibly upload my track to?

I made a loop using Fruity 4.

Posted by danielrong on Feb-01-2004 16:22:

feel free to upload it to ftp://guest:[email protected]

Posted by DinaireFan1 on Feb-01-2004 22:48:

I thought the one the guy did in Reason sounded as good (in a different way) than the original. And seeing how much gear wavemaker et al used to make the original, just goes to show you - don't get hung up on sound. It's the music and arrangement that matters - i.e. the parts.

I learned this the hard way. Agonizing over a sound will not contribute to the success of a production nearly as much as we producers think it will.
