The W Brothers had two film's worth of material and stretched it out over three. Hell, when a Paul Oakenfold rave intermingled with a sex scene with Carrie-Anne Moss starts getting tedious, you know they've 'jumped the shark'.

Tolkein had enough ideas in 'The Silmarillion' to make a whole genre of films. Not as good as the LOTR trilogy, perhaps. But more than the Matrix universe gave us.

LOTR, hands down. The first matrix was good, but after that, they just got crap. LOTR got better and better as the sequels came out.

the matrix was a great movie, reloaded was so worthless that i refuse to see revolutions. watching reloaded was really two hours of my life that i will not get back and i'm very upset by it.

i'm crazy about lotr. the books are amazing and i wasn't disappointed by the movies, which is pretty unusual.

I'd have to say Matrix on this one. I loved the action scenes for all 3. I just found that the LOTR movies got redundant and boring (not to mention a little too long). Ill take bullet time fights over LOTR clashes.

tho, so far i think matrix edges over lort...but only 'cos watched all 3 back-to-back in the matrix, but haven't done so for lotr yet...might do it tomorrow since the cinema's doing a trilogy session then

well it's hard to compare when you keep in mind that LOTR is based off of oen of the best book series ever written and that The Matrix is just a story thought of by the two directors..

no not at all.. my point was that LOTR has quite an advantage over the fact that it was a full series of novels (directed by someone other then the author) and the Matrix was just a story thought of by the directors..
