You guys are such pessimists.

I had a great time. So did my friend, and we took the bus from DC to get to Avalon. A totally crazy 30 hour marathon that included 10 hours of clubbing in between.

Well-worth it

I had a fucking awesome time @ Sasha. Drove in from Pittsburgh and met some friends in NJ then took the sub to the city. Started the night off at The W Hotel for drinks cause it was fairly close to Avalon. Got to Avalon around 9 and the line was already fucking huuuuuuge!!! Waited in line for about hour 1/2 then finally got in the door. I swear, the staff @ Avalon were really cool. Once the doors opened the line moved pretty fast. No problems getting in the doors at all. They didnt even look at my id. The open bar from 9 - 11 was no joke. Got fucking shitfaced on free drinks till 11 and after that......is a whole other story haha. Sasha came on right aroun 12 and really tore shit up. His set was almost to predictable and he played alot of the same tracks hes been droping but his mixing was great like always. I really enjoyed Avalons sound sysytem......ever easy on the ears The crowd was very nice and into the music from what i seen. Yeah there was alot of guidoes and all but everybody respected each other. The uni-sex bathrooms were kinda weird but whatever. All i can say is i had a great time and im glad i decided to come to NYE instead of sitting on my ass here in Pittsburgh. Shout outs to my crew.....Mustafa, Joanna, Janette, Sergio, Casper, tranceyes and Aaron (it was great hanging with you guys on NYE....btw..after we went to the bathroom, where the fuck did you guys dissapear to?) Left Avalon around 7:30 and went back to Bree's after party and chilled. Awesome night!!!!

OMFG I DIE I CRY!! haha, no but for real, NYE with sasha was perhaps one of the best, if not THE best, club nights I have ever been to. he was absolutely amazing. after seeing him, i am totally into the more proggy side of trance rather than the uplifting stuff everyone else plays. this was also my first time at avalon, and can i tell you how sweet that club is. when we first got there, we had to wait in a freaking hr and a half line to get in, but once we did- it was WELL worth it. the club is so cool, it felt so naughty yet even spiritual at the same time partying my ass off in an old church and the old limelight. aaron and i had a blast- we met SOOO many cool people, i was really surprised actually....i thought it was gonna be this pretentious club with snotty assholes but it was just the opposite. i met people there who i felt i had known forever! love to my baby (of course), brian and jerzy girl, mustafa and sergio, evan, aryn, and ryan, angel and ian, and all the rest of the wonderful people who made NYE the most incredible night.

anyone who has a tracklist or knows where this set is available to have- PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!

**** plus, does anyone know the name of this song he played, it had vocals that sounded like they could either be a girl or a higher males voice...ferry played it also last weekend at glow, i cant really remember much about it but everyone went crazy when he put it on and its very like, uppity and happy. any thoughts or suggestions even?????

Everybody and their mom had a fucking camera. Oh well i guess they didnt wanna take advantage of the free promoting of their club I was going to post the pics on trance365.com.

This is a bit late but here's my take on the night...

Erin and I get to the club around 10:30 to the sight of a massive line almost all the way down 20th street to 5th Ave. I was really pissed off when I found out that was the line for tickets and because it really looks like they oversold the club if it's already full at 10:30. EV Junkie I think you're right about them not letting people in til after 11 cuz of the open bar cuz a little after 11 the line started moving pretty fast and we got into the building a little after 11:30. We got through coat just in time to walk onto the balcony over the main floor as they were about to countdown til midnight.

We found a spot with a bit of room along the wall to the left of the booth on the lower floor and danced for a bit. Somehow we managed to meet up with Brian (Vtec) on the main floor and just chilled out for a bit. The crowd was definitely annoying cuz there wasn't much room to dance but everyone we met was awesome. Trips to the bathroom sucked cuz it took forever to get through the crowd but the music was so good I really didn't mind that much. For all those people saying there were assholes everywhere, I honestly didn't run into anyone like that. Erin and I met the coolest people from all over the world and there was a ton of love in the crowd and everyone we met was just there to have fun.

We hung out on the walkway that connects the balconies and no one was there so we danced our asses off their for a while as Sasha continued to drop bomb after bomb. Once we had room to dance, the night was absolutely incredible and Sasha layed it down like I've never seen anyone do before. I honestly couldn't dance hard or fast enough to do the music justice. I had heard some of them on his sets from this summer and fall but I liked it cuz they all sounded so good on Avalon's system (very loud and tuned well cuz my ears weren't ringing at all afterwards). Plus, on a lot of the tracks Sasha has been playing alot he looped and fucked with so hardcore that it sounded so different, I was about to die when he let it loose. We stayed til the end on the main floor which was really nice after it opened up a bit around 5.

EV Junkie: Thanks for the shoutout, I was just really feeling the music the entire time. Were you one of Brian's friends cuz I don't remember meeting anyone else on TA.

If anyone can find a tracklist or even better the set I'll do anything to get it.

All in all an absolutely amazing night filled with awesome people, amazing tracks threaded perfectly together throughout the night. The best part was definitely sharing New Years with Erin in such a perfect environment. The night would have been nothing without her there making me look good By far the best New Years ever and one of the most amazing club nights I've ever experienced.

Aaron and Erin your posts are my favorites. I'm Evan, by the way! hehe it was funny to read your posts pondering who I was. Im sure this clears it up. honestly people I reall y cannot get NYE out of my head...it has an omnipresence and Im beginning to think that it is taking over my thought process....My friends and I are all in an accord that NYE at Avalon was by far the greatest NYE ever, (and our little baby after party at my place dancin to sasha's essential mix with Aaron and Erin)---And like Erin said, seeing Sasha and feeling his beats and uhhhhhhhhh I can barely articulate how amazing I still feel! Ive got such passion on fire inside me still---I know it sounds cheezy, but like Aaron said, I too met so many wonderful, terrific, COOL people that night----guys, it had to be where you were throughout the night...the people in Spider or the people who were just below the DJ booth, (to the point where you couldnt see the DJ, or on the stage at the very very end of the night,) were the best---all dancing and socializing with eachother, and all were from every avenue of life joined and drawn together by some of the greatest sounds to ever filter out of Avalon's young speakers. chills run up my spine as I write this....I'm concerned that some of you might mistake my excitement for cheese...and think im a loser, but on the contrary, those of you who were with me or around me know EXACTLY what im talkin about...

To all the people I met from Israel, Japan, Boston, Australia (the aussies are ALL fuckin rockstars, every last one of them!!!, the german dudes on the dance floor, all the gays dancin together makin our city ever so cosmo and accepting, etc etc etc and to the awesome staff at avalon (not the bouncers, the real staff who operate the place and the sexy bartenders...ummm did anyone see the bartenders in spider??? holy shit....),---thanks for making wednesday night and thursday morning THE single best NYE ever, and one of my greatest clubbing experiences to date...that night was JUST as amazing as any night in Ibiza or or WMC night in Miami....just as good...Ive done both several times and think I've got grounds to hypothesize...again, i think it is all about who you met and wherer you were in the club...my friends and I had some priviledges at Avalon as well that helped make some of the distresses easier--not trying to brag, just giving you more of the basis for my praise.

NYC is experiencing a well deserved renaisannce in nightlife after some seriously stagnant years. Hop on and enjoy the ride! We deserve this. For all of you who are from out of town, come join us when you can! I love meeting people from adjacent states to faraway countries...

PS, I went out last night, to a few bars....the only thing I could do was dance in the corner and think back to my night with you all...this obsession has to end! hehe

Posted by vtec junkie on Jan-05-2004 07:07:

^^^^And that pretty much sums up NYE @ Avalon. I didnt wanna brag too much but i really feel sorry for anybody that was thinking about going and then changed their mind. Ahumm Ahumm

Track ID

Going a little off-tangent here, but I need someone to ID a track Sasha dropped right at 6:00 AM as he was kicking it up a notch. I hope a TA may remember/know what I'm talking about. If I'm not mistaken, it was the only song of the evening with (female) vocals. I've heard him play this haunting tune once before, and when it made the hair on my arms and neck stand up for the second time 'round, I realized it was a duty to find out what it's called!

Sorry guys. I just realized this question has already been posted, although I would not describe the song I am referring to as "uppity and happy". I am still recovering from heavy partying as you can tell! I will check out the Unkle track to see if that's the one.
