These are just that... stories.

I saw Danny spin at Arc a number of times and never saw any of the things happen that people call him on.

Even if glowsticks were allowed at Arc, nobody would use them. The crowd at Arc is different to most other places... very in the know.

There was at least one review I read on tribe that mentioned Danny doing something like this.

do you seriously think DT would cancel his gig over what a handful of people have to say about him on a TRANCE board?

lol

Posted by TheNeonAlien on Jan-12-2004 15:19:

im not saying the guys a shit dj, just a knob.
i hate smoking but im not going to get on my soapbox and cry about it. i hate lightshows, but they have become a part of clubbing experience. get some sunglasses and an electric fan, then do what you gotta do without crying bout it! i bet boa wont be selling glowsticks that night!

Posted by Your Mother on Jan-12-2004 16:10:

Danny is kind of a hypocrite for not liking glowsticks. Anybody who has seen him go nuts with flashlights will know what I mean.

Cancelling a gig in a city because your own fans and people who would come out to see you play are talking about a possible event truly puts you in that special class of egotistical, head-up-the-ass DJ elite. Think about what that says about the relationship between DJ and fan. I'm not saying that's how he is but if its true that he does in fact cancel a gig here because of a rumour started on a trance board well then I think its easy to see how truly far gone he is. That applies to any DJ or performer who reacts negatively to a positive hype started about them. I mean hell, if he is playing than this is all good promotion. If not, big deal, who cares? I mean you look at a lot of DJs and they love having their gigs hyped! Personally I have no interest in seeing Tenaglia - he's not my thing but I know I would feel slighted if it was a DJ I liked who hadn't been here in a while say like PVD and then all of a sudden he cancels a gig because we hyped it before it was announced. I mean you have to expect that details leak before an event is officially announced - like it or not it happens so DJs and promoters just need to accept it and use it as a positive promotion.

Posted by j_spot on Jan-12-2004 17:09:

its not that its hyped before its announced
this is a buisness right. somebody went and opened their mouth and spread word that DT was playing Boa.
now before this was confirmed would piss me off as well.
I mean plans are made, but contracts arent signed yet, and somebody opens their mouth.
there needs to be a form of punishment against the promoter for speaking or mentioning when they shouldnt be.

Im all for it. A cancelation isnt to punish the fans(but it does) its to punish the promoter who tried to profit from his name.

There is. It's called the DJ not going through with the show (thus promoter guy not getting a gig, making $).

I've always wanted to see what the hype is about.....cd's are one thing but live is another.

It's not Hype...the man is the messiah of nyc house, has been for the last 20 odd years...A real DJ's DJ. If you think Deep Dish can drop some heavy tunes then just wait till you see how 'Dark' Danny gets.

Having been a regular at his Vinyl gigs in NYC i can only say that Toronto would be lucky to get the talent of Danny Tenaglia destroying the floor at either System or Boa.

Danny Tenaglia & Steve Lawler on the same night...if that isn't a dirty tribal night then i don't know what is.

Oh man, if that duo were to happen.... that would be a dream come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Drool.... Mind you, I'd be happy with just one or the other too though, although DT coming up next would be nice, seeing as how I just saw Lawler @ Guv in November.

Posted by angelgirl on Jan-14-2004 17:52:

Dream come true is right. A down right dirty night it would be!

Maybe you shouldn't worry about the way other people choose to enjoy themselves and focus on enjoying yourself. If someone is in your way, ask them to move. Glow sticks have been a part of the dance scene long before you. If you don't like something, fine but you don't have to be so rude in the way you express you difference of opinion. Way to keep that good vibe going in the dance scene.

Posted by Special K on Jan-14-2004 21:10:

well then how about this then

i think they are ghey and annoying, so are the people that use them

i go to clubs to listen to music, and ok to look at girls too lol
not to look at pretty colors, hey if thats what u like doing tho then good for u, i reserve my judgement to think your a moron for having a glowstick

seen

k thanks bye

lol

Hehehe. I remeber having that light on me once a few years ago. It's just Danny's way of connecting with his people on the floor. It's not like the light blinds you while he writes you a ticket for being lame. Most of the time, it's just a cue to look up at the booth where he'll smile and you get a chance to acknowledge the Man.

Regarding glowsticks, meh...I'm not sure if he will stop playing because of something insignificant like that, but i wouldn't want to take a chance, so i'd keep the lights at home. How many people use glowsticks when dancing to NYC house anyway ??? Them things are better suited for trance...IMO of course.

For people who hate glowsticks...buy some shades, and STFU. There are so many legitemate things to moan about when clubbing, the best you could do is complain about some fluorescent lights?.....pssshhh!

PLUR

(and don't even tell me that you were blinded or struck by a friggin glowstick and it scarred you for life...i can already hear the violins playing in the background...)

I heard Denny Taniglia was gay. Is that true?
