What?
This has nothing to do with me being a DJ or not being a DJ. (Hell, sometimes I don't even consider myself to be a proper DJ.)
It has to do with me being annoyed that this person is on this board ONLY to advertise his own gigs and the nights at Pulse.

how much crack does one have to smoke to write that way? That was really hard to decipher.

the topic at hand is spam. get a clue.

I have never posted before but I read them on a regular basis. I personally, have not taken to much offense, when I read the threads from Kutz. I noticed that the line-up @ Pulse usually changes a bit week from week. So maybe the intention is to keep us informed. I do notice a lot of negativity though.

that's b/c he posts it in threads that have nothing to do w/ pulse. ther are other promoters that post about the lineups that do not bump thei rown threads and spam the board.

for example, in one thread a poster asks who likes psy-trance. and kutz responds that the club he promotes for does not play psy-trance but plays every other kinds of trance and then gives out the contact info about the club.

Posted by Durafei on Jan-15-2004 21:20:

I guess the point is: KUTZ is posting so much info about Pulse that we are all getting kinda tired of it - hence all the negativity.

If you want to promote your parties, do so without creating 2-3 threads and polluting another 2.

Posted by Form&Funktion on Jan-15-2004 22:09:

Let me try to sum it up with a simple analogy. Messageboard communities are much like libraries. Although they are public, they have rules by which those who wish to use them must adhere to. Just like you would not walk in and grab whatever book you want and walk out without following the proper process, so also are there rules and processes to PROPERLY promote events and NOT turn forums into waste bins for promotion spam and countless eflyers.

We LOVE to hear about and support new events.....but not by beating them to death by ONLY posting for self-serving reasons. That....my friends.....IS THE POINT.

Smiley DJ

I dunno whats up with This Thread ,especially bashing guys like Dj kUtz who has been in the scene while some ppl were still wearing dipers,He is an outstanding dj and has truly donated alot of hard time and work, I would doubt that there is any Trance dj In Toronto
at the moment, that has such solid track selection and programming skills on the turntables ,when it come to Pulse night club it is
a very solid club, the sound system is well tuned and the club is super clean,It is growing and it will be pumpin for many years to come
people attend it to dance and listen to good music it is a musically driven crowd, withan exception of a few.I definetelly recommend
Pulse and all the resident dj's,

Take care

You are really missing the point.

I don't give a shit whether Kutz is DJ Tiesto or DJ Fiesto. Just like there is social etiquette, there is a general notion that when a promoter registers on a board and proceeds to make posts that contribute nothing to actual discussion, but rather only serve to promote himself and his night, those posts will not be very well received. Promoters generally tend to follow this etiquette because they don't want negativity such as this to be directed towards them or their events.

And I meant to respond to this earlier - some comment about all of the Boa/Guverment threads and why there isn't such negativity about those - and it's because those threads aren't started by promoters. They aren't a sales pitch, begging TAs to come to their events.

Listen to Sarah, she knows the score

Posted by pkthedj on Jan-15-2004 23:34:

Yes I understand your point, but mabie the promoter was not aware of the way message boards work,it would be nice to tell him in advance in a nice way and not be so rude and mean about it,a promoter is only doing what he feels is right and every promoter works that way they compete with other promoters, and do anything to get people out to the events, but someone who is new to the board and online promotion should be given a break, and some ppl on here take this way to seariouslly its only a message board,

I think Kutz got the point now can we get back to the thank you thread
and I know he did not mean to upset anyone here...
cheers
paul

Posted by Skipper on Jan-15-2004 23:44:

If he's a promoter, he should know the score before coming on a message board and posting about Pulse in threads that ARE NOT EVEN ABOUT PULSE!
Being a successful promoter requires good business skills, and a good business skill is knowing when to do research. Knowing when to back down. Knowing when your advertising is pissing off potential customers.
People did give him a break at the beginning - yet it continued. So we got a little annoyed. I'm sure people will forget if the spamming gets toned down a bit.

and pure luck

Posted by pkthedj on Jan-16-2004 00:07:

The threads he was posting in, had something in common , music or ,activities ,alike.... and I personally do not think there is anything wrong with that ,once again it all comes down to how searious
some of the message board users are and they really do take it to personal, why not just read along and go with the flow, almost every thread on the board system has its topic changed it is how it always is ,so is there really need to read that one specific post about an event and bash the whole thread, why does it get people so angry
I really do not understand but those who do get angry need help .

when the tap water in my sink drips it pisses me off but I do not go and start bashing it with a hammer I aproach it and turn it off without any negativity....

we need 2 new threads lol " how to deal with anger", and mabie a thread to the promoters in general so we the partiers can teach tham how to be sucessfull and what we want to see tham do when promoting
it seems like when a promoter is standing out in the cold and is giving out flyers people just throw tham away when he tries to promote online people throw it away,

mabie its time these promoters get some respect and be left alone

cheers Paul

Again this is not a personal attack on him or his Djing skills, which isn't even the point at all, it's about being a smart promoter.

If he has been in the business so long shouldn't he know how it works anyway and not have to be told.

We don't like the promotion to be shoved down our throats. I think that is common sense.

Best of luck to you.

Yes but without that promotion shoved down your throat you would not have events to attend...it gets there one way or another.

did you get this thread mixed up, SPAM is not the way to promote a place, and as for respecting other people, to make that clear to you, is YES Skipper respects others, where did you get this hate or dislike, looks like you attacking someone for no particular reason.

Here we go a new topic LOL!!!

I am not forwarding my mesage to Skipper but to those who are negative towards a club and a promoter for no reason
I did not see kutz post pulse topics in other threads so why do people bring up things that do not exist, mabie its another promoter who is hiding his identity.

But I guess you have your view and I have mine

yes you are right, just like you said you have your view and I have mine... everyone learns something from other individuals opinions
and that is what is pretty cool about the forums....

Are you that ignorant? Or are you kidding? Because if anyone's advertising tactics annoy me, you can be sure I'm not going to give that same advertiser my dollars.

i dun attck someone or say something by no particular reason, i 'm just so dislike ppl keep talking shit to refuse a person ,a promoter or a party, dun u think that isn't nice too, if ppl dun like the club or the party, just leave the tread alone, let somebody leave something good for Kcuts, at least i would like to surport Kcuts for this events if i'm there

This is completely ridiculous, half the threads on the entire global forum are related to music in some way! That doesn't make them directly related to Pulse! Nobody took it personally, they were just sick of seeing his shameless self-promotion in threads where it was entirely inappropriate for him to post it. It's like if one of our members posts a link to his or her demo mix, and I jump in and say "Hey that kind of sounds like the music they play at the Warthog on Thursday nights! Come see! Doors open at 10:00! $20 per head!" You think that would be appropriate?

quote:

Ah, so what are you saying, that we should have just "turned off" Kutz? Have the mods ban him perhaps? Yeah, I didn't think so... careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

Um yeah, let's make TOTA into an educational forum for promoters on how to do business! That's a great use for our local forum! Crappy promoters, come on in, we'll show you how to do it right! Free tips!

I think we need a thread on "how to deal with argumentative n00bs who can barely string together complete sentences but still whine about people who have been members for over a year". And yes, maybe I do need some lessons in anger management, but you know what? I have this sinking feeling that you're in kahootz with Kutz, considering you have 9 posts and almost all of them are just complaining about the poor treatment he's received (regardless of whether or not he deserved it).

Now - the spam does seem to have stopped, to a certain extent, and I'll give you that. That's why nobody has bashed him recently. Have you noticed that? He stopped spamming, and people stopped making fun of him. It's you who is now fuelling this argument, so perhaps you should stop as well before you make both him and yourself look worse.
