I think I am missing something. I have the track and listen to it whenever It happens up, but dont get the appeal....does it remind you of being screwed over by an ex or something? I am just trying to understand the appeal, not dissing anyone or anything....

well, I like it for both simplistic and more complex reasons. For me it's because it's like a sample from some 70's movie or something, and I just like stuff like that
plus I also like it just because of it's sheer strangeness and creepyness

But I also like it because it is the complete opposite of the song's sound and atmosphere, the way it is juxtaposed with the song is great: here you have this monolouge about such a horrible and disturbing and disheartening subject matter, but conversly, the song itself is very melow and fluffy sounding, very dreamy.
It also serves as sort of a social commentary, if you will. The title "you are sleeping" could figurativly refer to the fact that the protagonist in this little story is ignorantly blind to the truth of his situation, he is trying to save this girl who really doesnt give a shit and is going about it in all the wrong ways; he is alseep. Or, in a greater sense, society is asleep, choosing to overlook or ignore the horrible things that are going on every day, just down the street (ie, homeless and whoring yourself out for heroin).

there ya go

I miss the point of thread as well with this, so to keep in line herre i'd have to say "Holding onto nothing" as it makes me feel like I am not the only hopeless romantic out there....

umm the song it's self is amazing. forget the vocals the production is ace.
