Always liked so called 'techno' since 94, but never really got into it until Gouryella - Tenshi was on FIFA 2002 soundtrack. So about two years now.

1998-1999. Those were the days...

I first got introduced to edm around 1999-2000 at the tender age of 12.

At first, I was jamming the usual cheese until a friend of mine took me to an actual event. (I think I saw Bad Boy Bill, Dj Mea, and Armand Van Helden.)
That got me really into real music and started my love for electronic dance music ever since.
Now I am 16 and I've never been more in love with edm.

Edit: When I first started listening to it, I thought Sasha and Digweed were brother and sister.

My boyfriend introduced me to the wonderful world of trance. We're two years together now so for me it started in 2002. Before i liked R&B, but now i want nothing to do with that anymore. I'm a real tranceaddict

I started listeing to Electronica back in 99, when tunes like ATB - 9AM till I come were popular on the radio.

Posted by Taz on Jan-15-2004 05:29:

Started 1979. Gary Numan - Cars, and Metal on the b-side of that 45. Oh yeah, and Donna Summer - I Feel Love, which creeped the hell outta me back then, lil' kid that I was.

I dare ANYONE to go back further than that...

My dad used to play 70's/80's records at home while I was growin up.
But by the time I was bout 12 in'92 I used to save my 2 months pocket money to get 1 cassette recorded from the local cd library.
I was into dance music for as long as I can remember.
2Unlimited,Maxx - Get Away,Captain Hollywood Project,Culture Beat with Mr.Vain,Dance 2 Trance - Power Of The American Natives and Rhythm Is A Dancer a little later[94-95].....used to cycle back from Maths classes as fast as I could to catch the European Top 20 on Mtv every Sunday.
Boy what memories.

The by bout 97-98 I heard a buzz online bout Oakey's Essential Mix Set in China.
I managed to get my hands on it and I was hooked.
Around the same time I heard Greece 2000.
Dont think any other single track is more responsible that Greece fo r getting me into EDM.
After that there was no looking back.
I now listen to everything from House to Prog To Trance and even a little psy[the morning stuff]

My journey began in about 93 after hearing some old ibiza tapes and uk hardcore tapes from my uncle and freinds @ school. But it wasnt until 96 (age 16) till i appreciated listening to Sasha ,Robert miles and Chicane.

started listening to this type of music in the 80's when I saw some of the Jarre concerts on the tv

"93" (10 yrs+)

Posted by extepan on Jan-15-2004 13:25:

I hate to say it but it was PvD feat Saint Etienne - Tell Me Why that got me into trance.

But Robert Miles - Children (Dream Version) & Robert Miles feat Maria Nayler - One & One that got me into EDM in the first place.

Well I started listening to EDM in late 1997 Early 1998. My best friend and her boyfriend at the time would have me listen to Underworld, Orbital, Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold. I loved the music... i just had to find a good time to go to a party. So finally in March 1999 Dubtribe Sound System and John Digweed came to Atlanta and that was my very first party. After that party I was hooked. Trance has been my favorite over the 6 years along with house, techno, drum and bass.

When I was a kid I use to listen to all those dance traxx that played on TV...I was like 7 or 8 listening to "Run Away" and other songs. I use to have a tape. I play on finding it and bringing back some memories. I've been into it for the most part of my life but I only really got involved when I hit Sec 3. I discovered Trancaddict.com and since then i've been trying to infect everyone with my music style.

Ever since heavy metal died out into worthless screaming frenzies and mindless riffs. Hurt my ears. Needed something nicer in my old age, like euphoric females singing their hearts out against heavy beats.
