the pre 1995 stuff is where its at...
Goa and Psy are so inextricably linked when people say one it is fair to say they mean both.
Hallucinogen - LSD
Muses Rapt - Spiritual Healing
Astral Projection - People Can Fly
Astral projection - Vision of Nasca

Yahel - Voyage
Yahel - Israel Dreams
Yahel - Intelligent Life
Infected Mushroom - Arabian Nights on Mescaline
Yahel - Going Up

man, what's with all of this Astral Projection?
It's all about Hallucinogen and Infected Mushroom.
Hallucinogen - Deranger
Kicks everything's ass. Really.
Hallucinogen - Snarling Black Marble (Remix)
One of the trippiest leads ever.
Infected Mushroom - Mush Mushi
The greatest lead ever. Listen to the notes, they are INSANE.
Infected Mushroom - The Shen
The lead at about 2:20 is awesome.
Hallucinogen - LSD
The fact that this was made in 1995 is incredible.
Hallucinogen - Horrogram
The first 2 and a half minutes are pure gold.
Xerox - Gravity Waves (Infected Mushroom Remix)
Minus the guitars near the end, this song is incredible
"Hallucinogen - Horrorgram" ownssssssss!!!
Can't believe only one person has mentioned
The Muses Rapt - Spiritual Healing
Incredible tune, just incredible. Just takes you away completely.
Got some more
(the real psy)
Va - Tales from the dark forest
Doof - Double Dragons
Ra - ROM
Talamasca - The Hunted Becomes the Hunter
Chi-AD - anno domini
Battle of the future Buddhas - Neuroglider
Luminus - Total Consciousness
Doof - Double Dragons
hmmmm, I'd say that this is my favorite tune right now.
Ticon - Some Simple Sounds
But my all time favorite track and has been for the past 4 or so years, is by the Gods of Goa:
Astral Projection - Enlightened Evolution
Then there's about 3 dozen more AP tunes but I won't bother listing them, as smallSHEEP has already put together one.
THC
Since everyone's mentioning AP, I'd have to say my favourite track of theirs is Mahadeva (original). Boring choice, but right behind that is Liquid Sun. This track is some of the smoothest goa I've ever heard, and what a bassline! Released in 1997 and sounds way ahead of its time.
Also, it's hard to beat People Can Fly for pure energy.

| The difference between Psychedelic and Goa Trance is really negligible, and if you ask anyone involved they'll readily say that there is no difference, much the same way that junglists will say there is no difference between Jungle and Drum n Bass (even though there is). To put it succinctly, Psychedelic Trance removes the hindu/middle-eastern influences and melodies and full-on blasts you with mindfuck music...teleport zappers, star trek tweeps, nintendo twerps, theremin squeels, feedback hums and radio antennae frequency squelches. Well...Goa might have all that stuff too. Hmmmm. Let's say this instead: Goa is more organic, and Psy is more cybernetic. But they're both futuristic sci-fi music. Okay, fine: they are the same damn thing. But there's just so much good music here to only squeeze in one genre. |
Yahel - Intellingent Life
this is one banging track! Ive always wished for a release.
I like the new israeli stuff with those loud as hell basslines and over the top synthwork... For example Chaos by Astrix and DJ Highguy, but there are plenty of others.
Sub6 feat Michele Adamson - He HeYa is a cool vocal trance tune done in this style.
edit : I'd just have to say, that if executed properly goa/psytrance could just be the perfect musical springboard for a new wave of synthpop music. It would own traditional vocal poptrance, which isn't half bad from a synthpop point of view, but the goa/psytrance has much cooler instrumentation.
P.S. currently listening to Pet Shop Boys - Miracles, now there's some classic synthpop for ya!
My all time fav is
Scientific Reality - Astrix
Currently diggin Mellicia - Sea Masters.
Also think half the tracks mentioned here are not Psy tracks.

Not sure how these slipped my mind, but a couple more:
Xerox on Maskalin - Fanatical Clubbers (145 BPM) !!!!
Bamboo Forest - Tilt (145 BPM) !!!
Astral Projection - 1,000,000 Years from Today - much more PSY-like compared to other AP (145 BPM) !!!!
Buzzmonx - Insane (138 BPM)!!!!
Cameleon - Mama Diolat (138 BPM) !!!
Massimo Santucci - Libidine Motorica (138 BPM) !!!
Beat Bizarre - Monochrome (138 BPM) !!!
I included what I think are appropriate beats-per-minute counts, even though I don't really do that sort of thing. If they are not accurate I'm not too concerned.
The !!!!'s are my rating out of 4 for each track.
THC
Hallucinogen - LSD!!! Without a question, end of discussion
Id say #2.)Astral Projection - People Can Fly
Man with no name - teleportation
or anything on the dragon fly label
Yup, I'll agree with that. The majority of the stuff on Dragon Fly is pure class.
Hallucinogen - LSD
Infected Mushroom - Bust A Move
Infected Mushroom - Mush Muhsi
Infected Mushroom - The Shen
Infected Mushroom - Dracul
