yeah some people need to learn how to give opinions in a more suitable fashion.. instead of just flamming ..

Yes, some people are going to bash tracks. That's fine, if everyone was really "tolerant" of tracks then no one would be expressing musical taste. Here are some suggestions:
1. Don't get personally offended when some disagrees with your choice of music.
2. Don't post flames without reasons. If you say "I don't like X because..." then your post is worthwhile.
3. Don't post "OMG!" in every thread. It becomes predictable and annoying. Try adding some real substance to the discussion.

Sometimes there just really isn't anything to say.

I've heard countless tracks that have nothing wrong with them as such, I just can't stand them for some reason.

my take - the problem is more people getting offended when sum1 says a track they like is shit, rather than the other person setting out to attack them.

the OMGers are the intolerant ones, not everyone has to like so and so's tune for fucks sake!

I like trance but not every track,so think what u want...
The real "l33ts" are people like T_2199 , arrogants who think they are better and the rest is crap...
But insted of acting nice in this place you just bash all day like you're such a great producers!!!

BTW you are not ignoring me youre flamming me in every post. AND BTW I love Trance.. And what exactly makes me arrogant ?? I have a opinion and I accept others too.

Because then you at least make an effort to explain why you don't like it, instead of just spitting random "this sucks" in every thread you feel like posting in. I agree. I may be new around here, but the OMG posts from people(EVEN MODS!!) really get on my nerves. And Mr Mystery seems to really hate himself or something. It's too bad

If you're gonna post OMG, or THIS SUCKS. Give something, ANYTHING to validate that argument.

These guys have said it all. As for the "people with custom status listen to other genres but hate trance" statement, this is true till the word "but": after listening to trance for so long, they're bound to know more about other genres too, and they've been listening to trance for a while, so they might listen to other genres more than trance at times. I know that I listen to techno, hard house and drum'n'bass a lot more than trance lately, UK hard (acid) trance being an exception.

It's also annoying when you want to talk about other genres of electronic music, including hip hop, and haters arise. If you hate the genre, that's okay, but let others talk about what they want and don't bother reading it!

Its a fucking FORUM people! Where people argue different points of view. Trance is too massive a genre for anyone to like all of it, so what do you expect?

The general complaint here is people who slag everything off as "cheese". This is a thing, cos cheese is DJ Sammy etc. Cheese is not anything that sells, is popular, isn't minimalistic plonk prog house or is uplifting.

Elitists may annoy us, but everyone knows they're talking shit, and telling them this will usually shut them up.

LAST POINT: You can spam 500 posts in a month. Post count has jack shit to do with musical knowledge.

Damn this is funny shit. I don't know why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch. I mean the reason it is so funny is because it is so true, but obviosly they are stereotypical generalizations that do not pertain to every single TA. Note the "average TA" clause at the top of the post; if you do not do this stuff, take heart for you are truely special and not "average".

First off, you gotta realize, Trance Addict is an internet forum dedicated to the discussion of trance music. Generally speaking, the type of people who will seek out, join, and discuss on a site like this, are going to be of a more elitist demeanor than your average music listener/clubber.

Second, for those of us who have been here for more than a few months: the more time we spend in this type of arena, the more time we spend immersed in this music, the more discriminating our tastes become, but at the same time, our tastes for other types of music become broader, and our scope on trance music as a whole is put more into perspective, ie, similar trends in music are more easily discernable, and we have seen the same questions asked over and over.

So, in refernce to the elitis pricks who inhabit this forum, I think it is a fair defense to say that not all of them are close-minded ignorant twats (although we have plenty of those as well). They are simply elder TA's, who have become jaded, cynical, and imbittered over time. Just like me!

I am, however, of the opinion that all types of music should be respected, regardless of how much you dont like a particular style. But, I don't think it is elitist to say for instance "I think this is shit." That would be an opinion, and discussion forums are founded on opinions. Opinion is needed for TA to keep running.

Heh...when it comes to trance music, I suck major ass.
