well if any of you have the DAT rips of the PVD AMnesia 2002 set you wll know the quality is AMAZING!

it was done at 320cbr!! and like OMFG! its insane.... so the DAT's will be fine this time ripped at 320cbr into an mp3.... the quality will be immense!

wav file.... now thats just silly :P ehehe

Posted by BJeT on Jan-22-2004 12:39:

think Webby 'sed' it all

Posted by tubby on Jan-22-2004 22:42:

comparing previous live recordings i've got those recorded straight from the sound desk to wav's to the mp3 versions there's a fair bit of difference, especially when you are basically reliving an event you were at and you have it up pretty loud. I wasn't suggesting it be put up for dl'ing in wav format, but if I could get a cd sent. I'd be more than happy to pay the costs involved. after all, getting the full set of corsten in 2001 cost me a case of beer, and that was a bargain.

Ooooh, this will deffinately be something that will get a download.

Great work son!

A recorded 5h set... AWESOME!

Yeah 320Kb/s is superb quality!
Next best is VBR using "--alt-preset extreme", which is excellent quality too.

Make sure you use LAME to encode. Get the recommended version here:

Hehehe... Well I wasn't talking about ONE 3GB file... But that just being the total data size...

The reason you can't open the file is probably due to a memory constraint... Obviously u wouldn't have 4.5GB of RAM, but another way of *possibly* helping ur PC getting there is to open up a hell of a lot of extra virtual memory... If you don't know how to do this then move to option 2...

Which would be to split the file... There must be a file splitting utility around somewhere that should do the trick...

When I record off Nova I always save the WAV as 1hr chunks... A lot more manageable at around 600MB per file

heh .. I've still got the 2 gig WAV file of the Cream Amnesia 2002 set still on my hard drive

i cant wait to get this armin set sorted!

you wont hear much difference on like shitty speakers, it all depends on what your system can handle also

Yeah, memory and cpu sure determine what you can and can't do with those huge files. When Rush went all night I sometimes had 6 gig wavs to contend with in the morning. Maybe if Matt tries to open the file in say SoundForge or a similar proggy and cut into those manageable chunks. It's very easy - just select the parts you want and copy n paste and convert to mp3.

Im sure youve got all the encoding and stuff sorted Cam but if your after a little advice/help id recommend you get in touch with Grant from tech:logic he's the one that records all the sweetchilli/progressive sets in Sydney/canberra and the quality is awesome...

I'm just thankful that it was recorded in the first place, as it is rare for DJ's etc to give permission.

Looking forward to hearing the set!

Agree 100%. Other thing is, u can always cut back the quality from 320 > 192 later, but you can't improve it once it's @ 192 (IE 192 > 320 ).

Lethal; If anything I'm pretty sure waX's boss could teach Grant a thing or two about how it's meant to be done[and I know how good Grant is ]

Pointy: See above, and personally on my speakers I can hear the quality difference of the same file up to 256kb/s, above that i know is there but can't here. It's better to be safe and have it tho. You'll never know when you'll want that extra 56 kb/s, and that's not much extra space.
