hmmmm.... could've been the tranqua remix? I'm just sure there was that dark pulsating synth during the buildup in that last track, i coud be wrong tho.

"phil i'm outta control man!!!"
lol
i love you paul

gumble doesn't like rank 1 either

i think it was really fun hanging out with everyone because i didn't really think armin's set was that great music-wise, it seemed really up and down to me. but for entertainment value it was fantastic! he signed everything we threw at him, which included every man and his dog's t-shirt, singlets and even a bra! so many people wrote messages on their mobiles for him and he read them all, signed everything people gave him, ran down the front to shake hands, it was really great to watch.

was dissapointed didn't get to hear any perpetuous dreamer tracks or older armin stuff, and 'waterfall' but steve made up for it

also seeing as he played 'strange world', 'for an angel', 'godspeed' and thats 3 times in a row he played 'seven cities', where is everyone complaing about the anthems like last time?

Posted by PulseFusion on Jan-26-2004 14:27:

wow! what a wicked night!! one of the best of my life!

however, on that note, i did think that at times he just played songs because he just felt like it... in parts there was no flow... mind you, i couldn't do better so respect is given where respect is due!

i was a bit disappointed he didn't play push through and sincere. oh well, although i did think he played a bit harder and not as uplifting as i would've liked.

i thoroughly enjoyed this night and i hope to enjoy many more like it. i think though, as impressive as it was, i have to say that PVD @ traffic in may was a little bit better, but not by much... armin is still my only god...

And happy birthday to jolz, nice to meet ya and gumble and the rest of you guys...

oh and one last thing, does anyone know if this set was recorded? i'd love to get my hands on that...

Saturday night was ABSOLUTLY AWESOME !!!
Got to QBH a tad early & had to listen to Mark James boring bog prog set. I thought there'd be more people, but was glad that it wasn't packed out, so there was plenty of room to jump around.

All I've got to say about Armin is that he is easily the number 1 DJ in the world & is the king of trance !!!! Tiesto & PVD don't have have the talent & showmanship that Armin has.... His crowd interaction is second to none, his mixing is tight & his track selection was fuckin' brilliant !!!!

OMFG !!!! Seven cities & Strange world !!!! Absolute dancefloor insanity !!!!

Personal highlights of the night were:

Sarah McLachlan - Fallen (Gabriel and Dresden Anti Gravity Mix)
Andain - Beautiful Things (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
Filo & Peri - Under The Sun
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (AvB Universal Religion Mix)
Born Slippy NUXX (Paul Oakenfold Mix)
Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
BT - Godspeed.
Oceanlab - Satellite (Above & Beyond Mix)
Marco V vs Jens - Loops and Tings (Relooped)
Umek - Gatex
Nitromethane - Time To Die (Seraque Mix)
Solarstone - Seven Cities (AvB Mix)
Push - Strange World (2000 Remake)
Paul van Dyk - For An Angel
Coldplay - Clocks (Marco V Mix)
Solar Factor - No Return
Rising Star - Burned With Desire (Rising Star Mix)
Solid Sessions - Janiero (Armin van Buuren Mix)
Rank 1 - Airwave (Breathing) (Breaks Dub)
Airwave vs. Rising Star - Sunspot (DCML Mix)

Yes, there were plenty of highlights !!!!

A bit bummed out that he didn't play Oceanlab - Sky falls down - AVB mix, but I guess you can't have everything in one night...

Just when I was starting to stray from trance, Armin has realed me back in !!! I can't wait to hear Armin again, hopefully he will be back later this year, fingers crossed...Finally Future has delivered a mind blowing night & congrats to the organisers.

The last 4 times Armin has played in Melbourne, he's played Push - Strange world, Umek - Gatex, Solar stone - 7 cities, Airwave vs. Rising star - Sunspot. Has anyone else noticed this ???

Posted by PulseFusion on Jan-26-2004 15:17:

yeah, i agree. of all the dj's ive seen, armin has to be the one who interacts with the crowd most. definitely an entertainer as well as a fuckin good dj!!

yeah binary finary, urban train, nitromethane and gatex were highlights (and ATRC obviously) but i think it was satellite that stole the show for me... what a sweet tune!!! i thought it was strange to hear armin play for an angel coz the last time i heard it out was when pvd played it, but then i though 'why not?' it is a fuckin good choon after all!

Posted by MarcoB on Jan-27-2004 02:41:

Cool

IMHO didn't think Armin's set was anywhere near as good as Tiesto..it didn't flow as well...there were some really good moments, hearing Strange World for the first time out in about 2 years, but the set was for me very up & down. I thought he started off on a really percussive, proggy vibe, which for me ain't what AvB is about. That said 6 hours is a long time so you gotta experiment. Thought his enthusiasm & crowd interaction was superb, Tiesto & PvD seem a lot more aloof behind the decks but Armin went nuts!

Thought I might have heard Scarab's Vagabond & Envio Touched by The Sun but could be wrong.

Posted by RaVVaR on Jan-27-2004 03:40:

omg ! i just downloaded
Andain - Beautiful Things (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
armin withdrawls....

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Jan-27-2004 04:36:

That set fkn rocked.

Stop complaining about flow, I thought it went fine.. especially his key mixing... I didn't hear one off mix... absolutely flawless.

BIG props for playing Roads, one of my favourite tracks... really suprised me.

Also I don't think he played too many vocal tracks.... it was so much fun singing them with all the front & centre crew... really made my night.

And yes I know my arm/hand looks retarded.... it was the camera angle

hahaha .. very true, i think i lost my voice at Sarah McLaughlan's Fallen (only the 2nd track!) .. Stone Cold and Satellite were the other 2 great chances to sing out our trance !!!

Posted by Paulie on Jan-27-2004 23:33:

I think its official QBH is the best venue in Victoria bar none when that upper level is open.

Back at work loulou?

ps. stone cold aint cheese its tunage, and burned with desire is one of the biggest pieces of shit out there

Posted by loulabell on Jan-27-2004 23:53:
