you know how many times I've dropped mine on those dots in a drunken haze . Needless to say I'm not proud of it but it's already been two years on the same needles with now reduction in sound quality . I'm shocked, but yet happy at the same time . I've been very happy with Ortofon Nightclub S needles, they haven't done me wrong yet, and I still have another set of stylus to go .

But shure needles will wear down the shit out of your records!! Make sure you adjust the weight to be perfect to get the maximum value not only out of your needles but your records as well.

Oh thank god! There's another person here who spins when they get drunk and sometimes lets the needle drop on the platter. I thought I was over it (hadn't done it in about 6 months) and just a few nights ago did it again in a drunken stupor. You know, I second what you have to say about the Ortofon Nightclub S. I have had those for quite some time now and they are still working great. I don't think I would trade those in for anything else.

since we are all a little jaded and trashed you can find a store that sells from a bulk card of styli and they seem to sell it for really cheap. The other day when i went to a couple of record shops i've found this place that had around 12 whitelabel styli on a cardboard/plastic bulk pack and they sold each styli for $21 ea. Talking bout dirt cheap! Most places here sell them for $45 or so ea. So the rule is... you can buy new styli for cheap if it's in bulk packaging. Just ask to look at the stylus before buying b/c it looks really easy to crush the cantilever in the plastic cardboard thingy.

After doing extensive reading on these two needles, I realized I needed new needles to drastically increase sound quality. Seeing as how I could get either one for around 110 bucks with guitar center pricematching, which one do you guys recommend and why?

Go with Ortofin...I love mine...work great and are just awesome and easy to deal with and maintain.

I just heard the whitelabels today at my local record store. They look pretty cool I'd say. THe sound was really clear. Unfortunately i couldn't compare them to a set of ortofons.

There is a place in San Antonio called Hermes Music. They had white labels for $85.00 USD last time I went. I would have bought them if wasn't there to buy my 700s.

WHen askin around, I seemed to get the same response. two people I asked both said that the Whitelabels had a flatter response than the Ortofons and that the ortofons are a lil bass heavy. Doesn't seem like a bad thing. The Dj'S sound really good when i burned my mix onto a cd and played it in the car. Crystal clear sound and smooth pounding bass.

i know this thread is a bit old but i just picked up a pair of whitelabels to replace my old trackmaster II rs' that needed a new stylus. since they kind of sucked thought it was time for an upgrade. wow, what a difference in sound quality, i can actually hear my mids now, heh. i was borrowing my friends nightclubs when i needed my tables and I can say you can't really go wrong with either. Like alot of other people said the ortofons are a bit more bass heavy. so i guess its a matter of preference, if you want a flatter response go with the whitelabels. only thing i really dont like is the grip, wish it was a bit bigger like the nightclubs.

Yea the general response I seem to be hearing is that the Whitelabels have a flatter response. I still have yet to hear them
