Let me get this straight, I'm supposed to use my telepathic powers, contact Ian who just happens to be on the other side of the world (Because he sure as hell isn't online right now), and then (telepathically) ask him why he made a typo/used a certain word in a forum post.

Have you considered the possibility that he may have not seen the thread or laughed about it in irc even? I haven't seen him complaining, have you?
If he was offended by it (Which is fairly unlikely, as it's clearly a light hearted joke), then yes, it would be appropriate to take it down, but since he hasn't posted to say 'take this down now!', I don't see what your problem is.

he's already seen this thread, he's a mod ffs. why don't you have some balls and tell him in the face how much you hate him instead of hiding behind stupid jokes and teases which are becoming totally unnecessary for the comfort of the comunity.

I know this is terribly hard for you, but why don't you try and read the posts in this thread. Do you see one post where someone says that they hate art? No, you don't. I'm going to take a stab in the dark here, perhaps it's because people don't actually hate him? Nah.
