I certainly don't feel safer.
Australia's involvement in the war on terror has only made us more of a target for terroists, who previously wouldn't have even considered our country.
All because we support Bush and the USA in the "War on Terror".
Sure, USA's military action in Iraq and Afghanistan might help the situation in those countries (although this is a long way off), but this action will only contribute to more hatred of the USA and its allies in the Islamic world.
Places like Pakistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are increasingly hostile to the USA because of the War on Terror, and they see it not as an attack on individual regimes, but on their religion (Islam) and their whole culture. In my opinion, the USA is only serving to create more hatred and more extreme views in the Middle Eastern world by acting pre-emptively against Iraq and Afghanistan.
Let us not forget that USA once supported and funded the regimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and a host of other Middle Eastern countries.
Bush's War on Terror is only succeeding in breeding more terroists and more suicide bombers.
George Bush is destroying the USA's reputation throughout the world. I live in Australia, a wealthy, secular nation that has always supported the USA, and I can tell you right now that America's image is being tarnished irreparably by what is happening in the world today. Many ordinary Australians who once admired the USA are now strongly against it.
The sad thing is that most people are opposed to the government's actions, but it is the whole country and its people that suffer the backlash.
I didn't feel real safe when the USSR collapsed; a bunch of loose nukes running around.
I didn't feel any safer when Iraq collapsed; a bunch of loose nuts running around.
I'd feel a whole lot safer if they'd bring the g*damned price of gasoline down about 50 cents!!!!!

Yep,I do feel safer. That's one less terrorist.
Oh,and Dave. I have no idea where you get your news, but there have been letters coming back from Iraq, and they are from military personel. They've said Iraq is in a much better state than it was at the beginning of the war. SO, I'd believe them over you anyday.

I would also like to take this time to think you for turning every thread into a pro-Palestine/anti-Israel debate. It is both new and refreshing. |
Again .... what's with the anti-CNN agendas? I've yet to see anybody make an intelligent case against CNN that holds any water whatsoever. If anybody can prove that CNN holds an inherent bias or "spin" on news stories or coverage that is any different from bbc, reuters, news.au.com, or any other like-minded world-wide news provider then I would like to see that analysis. I've noticed that memoryhole.org and similar sites who have "news you won't find on CNN" pull the same AP/reuters articles that CNN has on their very site 99.9% of the time. To be honest, this is probably the 5th time I've inquired without an intelligent, well-founded response, and it's starting to get old. And if you are going to respond, please hold the rhetoric and respond with a factual argument. Thank you.
