I am from Coburg welcome to my world

Zara's ownz Sydney road.
Dont be fooled though, its moved over the road. The guy who owned the building of the original Zara's, kicked out the Zaras company (so they moved over the road) and opened his own turkish restaurant "Lara's" its like the 15th turkish restaraunt in an 500 metre radius.

Brunswick st - The Kebab Factory, (Opposite Souvlaki King) - vested interest. Tell em you know JulesPLees and you'll get a discount.

Posted by RaVVaR on Dec-09-2004 23:09:

The best souvlakia ive had would have to be at ma mates place where we bought like 5 kilos of meat and cooked and ate it ourselves !!
The best kebabs ive tasted are on Barry Rd Upfield - Katik. wicked shit i tell ya .. !

Whos seen that kebab place in surfers in Orchid Ave i think? Its called "Theo's kebabs" with a lebo working in it... figure that shit out! and the greek name for it doesnt make much sense too lol ..

HAHAHAHA ohhh that was teh shit, he does make awesome kebab's and he's very organised and Hygienic, he's got all the storage containers and shit hahaha

There are many quality kebab stores, but they are all situated in the northern suburbs, the likes of lambs and what not just dont compare to gino's kebabs, alysias and dalton rd kebab shop

Posted by jizza on Dec-10-2004 01:20:

wtf's with the coburg/brunswick massive?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Dec-10-2004 01:21:

I make my own at home

TEH WIN!!!!!!

Pure awesomeness, not so good when you're drunk and you can't be bothered making it.

I dunno what the places are called, other Adelaide guys may be able to help me out here, but theres a one place which has a chain of them (definitely one in Myer centre, one at Marion, one at Tea Tree Plaza).

Another place in the bottom of David Jones in the city too, they make a pretty mean Yiros

Theres also the Falafel House on Rundle - not so good but not bad

And the place on Jetty Road at Glenelg near where the road turns parallel to the beach, they're not too bad either.

I second that. These kebabs were my sustainance for my two weeks at schoolies. They have excellent depth to them, great bite, the right amount of crunch and wow...the TASTE!!! Sublime!

Posted by jizza on Dec-10-2004 03:26:

did you score any tang points? of the poon variety?

oh shit almost forgot the staple diet of me and paulies stint at uni. it was the only thing that kept us through our course. knowing a fresh hot doner kebab served with a turkish smile would meet us made university bearable. almost.

get this! paulie only has lettuce and meat in his kebab... thats it! like wtf why bother karnt.

Posted by one.tjc on Dec-10-2004 03:53:

try to avoid the chain of UTK kebab stores - they are quite shit.

Tips And Tricks to good Kebab guide!!!:

Always go to places that use sliced meat leaves in their kebabs. The ones made from minced meat usually cheap and poor in quality and easier to make. Leaves a dry taste in your mouth. Crap taste is compansated by garlic sauce and other ingredients such as salads and onion etc... Most restaurants on sydney Rd Brunswick and Coburg use that technick. The worst one must be Alasya restaurant in Brunswick they give ya shit kebabs and on top of that the service is rude!
The best kebab joint on Syd rd is the one called Kebab Station, close to the Corner of Bell st, Syd rd just next to the Coles entrance. Another good one is located in Glenroy Cnr of Pascoe vale and Glenroy Rds...
Souvlaki is just a crude imitation of Doner Kebab The meat is cooked horizontally instead of vertically and looses most of its juice while its spinning unlike the doner kebab.

In Germany Doner kebab has beaten Mc Donnalds 5 to 1 and becoming the German national food. PvD and other European DJ's introduced kebab caravans behind their Love Parade trucks so the participants would enjoy egsotic tastes along with fast paced trance music instead of E's

Adams Kebabs in Hurstville is awesome, and it's open very late as well.

The Kebab shop in Beverly Hills (Sydney) is top notch well.
