So are you trying to say that the only thing good on the xbox is xbox live? Or do you like just playing pc games on a console?

i already have a dvd player, i dont need one, do i need to go one with waht xbox HAS and PS2 does not, such as superior graphics/performance and a HDD. And xbox LIVE is 50usd a year INCLUDING a head set, which PS2 users must buy seperate and a GT across all games and a friends list. FAR SUPERIOR in my opinion

Its too bad I must say I realy had big hopes for the Xbox when it was coming out. It had nice graphic and sound and HALO. But now I must agree Xbox is way behind.
That makes me hapy I invested my money into upgrading my computer insted of something like Xbox hehehehe.

Posted by Nadi on Feb-27-2004 14:58:

My only beef with xbox is the amount of games that dont support live(madden/thps etc)

yep, that's because the majority of gamers know that anything made by microsoft is a piece of shit. I own a PS2 and a Cube. I won't touch an xbox with a ten foot pole, plus, everyone I know that did buy one, has had nothing but problems with it.

So your saying your $50 a year is better than the $30 one time pay for the headset? how is $50 a year better than only $30?

Oh and I think he forgot to add the ps2 users need to buy a hard drive and network adapter to play online games. In my opinion I think xbox has a better online playing system. Xbox is great for modding, check out http://www.xbox-scene.com/ for modding info. I do not hate any of the systems, but why is everyone getting on xbox because it had an ok selling holiday session? I think PS3 and Xbox 2 are going to be great system in the future.

You do not need to buy the hard drive to play online. I dunno where you heard that at...

Hard drive is not needed and isn't even released yet, also the ps2 can be bought off the shelf with the network adapter for the same price that you can buy an xbox.

Oh yeah, and be sure to note that the DVD player "works" right out of the box...you don't need to "unlock" it like you do with the XBox.

Yeah I guess I forgot to mention that, been awhile since I've watched a DVD on it though.

I hear ya, I have my Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 surround sound on my computer so I usually just watch them on there.

Posted by stahly on Mar-07-2004 19:22:

Just like you said you have to buy extra to play online with ps2 oh and did I say that you need an adapter to plug 4 controllers in? They both have something you need to pay extra to get the full benefit.

Why do you need four controllers to play online? I thought the whole purpose of online play was so you didn't have to call you friends over.

Haha, what are you on about? You need to purchase XBox Live! for the online to work on the Xbox as well.

I don't really care that PS2 doesn't have 4 controller ports, I've never wanted to play PS2 game with more than another person anyway. XBox is the champion when it comes to extra things you have to purchase to get the full benefit.

Not to mention that the top selling game for the system, Halo, still isn't a greatest hit. Anybody find that to be quite odd? Yeah, Micro$oft is milking it for all the money it's worth.

heh you're so right. I don't know if you guys heard this or not, but the next xbox is NOT going to have a built in hard drive like it does now (there goes xbox live). Players won't be able to download content off of the internet such as new maps. Poor xbox now I know what the letter X in xbox means; dead system.

Posted by pho mo on Mar-07-2004 23:40:

not that i care, but the xenon/nextbox whatever, is suppose to either have either flash memory, or a dvd burner. which means you can download content etc.

live will of course be included. i would say "hope it's not as shithouse as live for the xbox 1" but i'm def. not getting xbox2 so who cares.

Here's another reason not to get the next xbox, apparently it is going to have the same processor as the new Apple G5. While the new PS is going to have a brand new chip in it called Cell, made by Sony and IBM, it's gonna be sickeningly fast.

because they are intimidated by the xbox and they are sad they wasted money on a ps2. If you notice, its ALWAYS the PS2 fans that start flaming Xbox and saying it sucks. And all the ps2 fans are so hardcore about their system, but its really not a good. Any game that is out on PS2 and on Xbox as well, Xbox's version is way better. WHen Xbox throws out a game title, it really makes it worth it. PS2 just throws out tons of title and only about 40% if not less of those are acutally worth it. Xbox has a Built in Hardrive, listen to your own soundtracks in games. PS2 has to stick with boring game soundtracks. Sure you have to pay for the DVD kit on xbox, but you get a remote controller as well so its no big deal. 4 people can play on xbox, ps2 is limited to 2. lets just compare system stats shall we

The better system is obviously Xbox. Ps2 users often whine "halo is the only thing good enough on xbox" They dont realize though that today, most of the titles on Xbox shit on ps2 titles. really, what really good games do Ps2 have that Xbox dosent? Ide say only Gran Turismo Series and maybe FF. two game? Xbox has Halo, Dead or alive 3, and now ninja gaiden. Rallisport is really matching up against gran turismo, only disadvantage is that its only rally. But you got Project Gotham 2 which is very nice as well.

EDIT: and the only reason Gamecube sells more its because is a children's game console with nothing but E rated games. Just a fad.

i am sorry to say but i love the xbox...more than ps2 and gc anyday...even tho it doesnt have the games that ps2 has..i prefer get the game that comes out on all 3 system...on xbox...and it has ninja gaiden..that right there is worth getting it for..

albertoR, you can compare them all you want, but they were made for different markets, PS2 was made purely for console gamers and was to directly compete with the Dreamcast (which in my eyes was a better system). The Xbox was made for the PC gamer who didn't have enough money for a gaming PC, sure it was also made to compete with the PS2 but even Bill Gates said they weren't ready to overtake Sony in this endeavor. Now on to you negatives about the PS2, yeah they do release alot of crap games, but they also release alot of games for variety, the whole reason why it's still around. Next, who gives a rats ass about uploading music onto the silly hard drive to listen to your own soundtrack, simply mute the TV and play the music off your computer, radio or stereo. Now onto something you failed to mention the installed user base, PS2 is way higher then Xbox and don't give me that it's because it's been out a year longer, even if Xbox and PS2 released at the same time it would still be way behind numbers wise (if they released at the same time though my guess is that Xbox would be on top cause it is a far superior machine). Lastly, alot of games come out on both systems that aren't exactly exclusive case in point GTA series and Splinter Cell, but look how long it took for GTA to come out on the Xbox to how long it took SC to come out on PS2, 1 year GTA, 6 Months SC. As for the killer games PS2 has many that you forgot to mention; Devil May Cry, Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, online play for all EA sports titles, Socom and then the soon to be released Killzone.

My .02

albertor: "PS2 only has a few good games? Gran Turismo and FF? thats it?"

What about the grand theft auto series...devil may cry...metal gear solid... and many others awesome games. Who cares if the Xbox has more power than the ps2. Only a hand full of games have actually used what the Xbox is capable of doing. I just played true crime on the ps2 along with the xbox version and they both look identical. There really isnt a major difference of both titles. Yeah ninja gaiden is a bad ass game but look how long we had to wait for games like halo, dead or alive, and prince of Persia. What about mafia??? This game just released on the ps2 (even though it released on the pc back in 2002) over a month ago and now its finally coming onto the xbox. Too much time goes by while we sit and wait for the next big game. You mentioned that "but you get a remote controller as well so its no big deal" you forgot to mention that it doesn't even come with batteries. No big deal to me, I could care less, but I mean come on? At least have the dvd remote come bundled with batteries and drop the price from 29.99 to about 14.99 like the ps2. You all have to remember that graphics isnt what makes up a game. Who here hates pacman? NO ONE!!!! If Im able to play a game that has an awesome story line along with several different twists to the story and it looks like shit, I could play that game for days. Does Zelda for the original NES bring back memories???

I'm totally with ya there mate, I played A Link to the Past about a month ago (one of the best games of all time imo), Story & Gameplay far exceed the importance of Graphics.

grand theft auto is on xbox now, so is metal gear solid. And Splinter Cell>Metal Gear Solid, and its also out on xbox so it dosent really matter. Never heard of devil may cry though, whats it about About the games being released afterwards, i usually dont mind that, its better that they take their time to make a good game that to release it as soon as possible and leave it mediocre.

Most of the time they are direct ports of the original. MGS was different from the original but Substance was also released on the PS2.
