Use Ad-Ware, from lavasoft. I have been using it for more than 3 months, it finds all spyware in your computer and shows a list of them so you can choose which ones to delete. Audiogalaxy can work perfectly good without webHancer, and most programs still run fine without spyware. The only one that I know that needs it is gozilla , if u uninstall it, it gets all screwed up. Kaaza, WinMx, and almost all mp3 progs use spyware.
to tell u the truth i coudnt care less. They r good programs, and they dont charge, so they may as well get something back, and i dont go to really bad sites anyway. So i dont care
Bad attitude i know, but thanx for makin me aware, i may look at atking it off. But i did wonder why i was sendin out info, when not surfing
Thanx for the info

in fact I can put them up on my University personal page, so that everyone can d/l it with no problem. I have a 50Mb account, that's about 4-5 songs in 192.

Basically they install some files which, while you're on the web, transmit information to various companies about your computer configuration and maybe even personal/sensitive information. If you're not paranoid about this it may be nothing serious. On the other hand I don't want anybody to know what's stored on my computer and what my user settings are. |
Anton: Wuzzup! I just feel REALLY pissed off about this whole spyware shit
Big Brother is watching you, "1984".
ShaNg: On the contrary. Yesterday I tried to d/l AudioGalaxy from their official site, and it gave me the message that it WOULD install some spyware (maybe not webHancer, maybe some other name -- but there it didn't give me a choice. It also offered to install 2 other "programs", which I rejected.) The message was something like, "We are at a financial loss, this is the only alternative we have." Anybody else read this?
So, what is this whole DC thing that you're talking about? (DirectConnect) How is it good for the Trance community
