Smile Thanks

Thanks to all who responded, however I'm more confused now than before I started the Thread!

hmm
I am not good at classification, but I thought lawler spins tribal prog?

whatever he spins ,I like that style

I also don't like the "chillout" sounding prog, and prog that has alot of funk and elctro...

I am not sure if I make any sense

i think it's important to qualify any respose to his question. It's not overly helpful to do otherwise.

it's hard to classify a lot music these days...

i would call lawler 'tribal'

he does throw in some house and prog tracks.

whatever it is, it;s sexxxy stuff.

I *heart* lawler.

Fair nuff i guess. Genre dissections are tedious at best, so i'm not going to touch upon what the difference (if there is indeed any) between 'Tribal' and 'Tribal Prog'. Suffice to say, i do enjoy the chillout element that is one facet of progressive music. In a 3 hour set, it actually pays to have moments where the musical journey ebbs and flows , thereby setting up the stage for the really massive tracks to work their magic.

But if that's not your cuppa, then by all means, enjoy Ferry churn out epic track after epic track.

PS. I have a feeling this night is going to be great. And I'm not just talking about the KH. Leaving aside personel sentiments and passionate opinions, both DJ's have a history of delivering what their fans want to hear...so just enjoy the night, and don't mind the little 'heat' this thread is sure to create.

PLUR ( <--- cause it seems like the 'right' way to end things ----> )

Nice response.

I agree on all accounts.

funny thing is; I only enjoy trance at big clubs (no trance at home)
maybe it's the atmosphere or something...

still, best parties are those with the likes of lawler, sander k zabiela...

Digweed will be awsome for those who want to fall a sleep in a party!!

For all those poeple bashing ferry in this thread, all I have to say is one thing.

Have you made millions?
Do you make music with the best dj in the world (tiesto)?
do you have thousands upon thousands of fans jumping and dancing to your music?
DO YOU HAVE TALENT?

WELL FERRY DOES! SO PISS OFF

Oh so every deejay that is succesful we must like? Damn I didn't know that.

Posted by Endlesswave on Feb-16-2004 00:16:

No Graham. He is just saying do not bash the dj. I don't like Digweed much (from what I've heard) but I don't constantly go in every thread that is about progressive with Digweed in it and post in HUGE letters Digweed sucks now do I? it goes for both, those that don't like digweed stfu and say you will go see Ferry because you like his music. For those that will go see Digweed because you like his music better then GO SEE FERRY and stop fucking bashing the other dj just because you don't like his fucking style. /end rant.
Having said that if I can get a wristband and go check out both djs I will...

Justin Timberland makes more money then Diggers or Ferry, he also has more people who listen to his music. Some even go so far as to say he has talent. Not sure where i'm going with this...oh wait, nowhere...because your post makes absolutely no sense.

The opinions against Corsten are not based on jealousy. We all know he makes money and has a fan base. They are opinions on his abilities as a DJ. Your argument although passionate, just isn't very good... Sorry, and have a nice day.

agreed. if we all followed the original poster's line of thinking, then we wouldn't listen to EDM at all we would listen to mainstream music. $$ does not equal talent. and if you were to chose a dj solely based on talent (mixing skills/programming than digweed would win over ferry anyway). My bf can mix and program better than ferry (prog/techno or trance) so why would I pay money to hear ferry when i can hear matt for free?

Posted by Kytracid on Feb-16-2004 01:03:

Thumbs up

Yeah that reminds me to give a big ups to all the DJ's from TOTA who spin at the TA Invasions. I was there for the last one, and was blown away by the talent and track selection of the guys/girls spinning ( unfortunately, the dope that i am, i didn't take the chance to tell this to them in person ).

The VIP room was cheese free and bustling with the kind of talent that makes me wonder just how long it will be till we see one of our own opening up for the big timers.

Keep it up peeps. You do Toronto and our little community at TA proud !

I will hear him spin, but on that night I will be with the 'other rest of us" being taken to a blissful place by a legend by the name of john digweed (who has done more for the genre of trance than many of dj's that are playing trance today).

thank you, all I'm talking about is something alot of peeps are missing from this thread. Respect.
I'm not telling you to like them, I'm not telling you to listen to them, I'm asking you to have respect for them.
They make music, respect that. Respect the fact that they bust there ass to make us happy. and All we do in return is judge them, well, it's us who should be jugded, on how we treat them.
I don't see anyone bashing Mother Theresa cause they don't like her.
They keep there mouth shut cause they have RESPECT!

you proved my point with you post. He makes money, he makes music, and yet he gets little respect. Does anyone even know what justin does in his spare time? he goes to orphanages and sings to them. I don't here them bashing him.
RESPECT!
