Well here we have a station that plays punk, rock, even some eminem.....and at 11:00 on I think friday and maybe even saturday nights, they have what they call "late night at 11:00 with paul oakenfold". Even though I'm not a big fan of his, alot of what gets played is pretty good.
We also use to have a dance/techno type only station here but it didn't last long, probably because the reception sucked so bad. I think it's a spanish station now. They basically only played mainstream shit that sucked anyways. Other then that, they don't really have much for trance on the radio here. I'm kinda happy about it though...that way alot of my favorite artists won't go super mainstream on me.

BUUUUUT it is really CHEESY during the day and they play the same dance crap all day. SUCKS. When the station first came out it was a pirated station and all they played was underground trance....Ahhh i miss those days.

hey man we're in the same boat. I live in Miami and although Party 93.1 is trying to get dance music on the map, I unfortunetely have to say that they're going down the drain and they're taking other people's perception of electronic music down the drain with them. A lot of people on my campus know that I'm an electronic head. They come up to me saying, "Dude! Why the hell do you listen to that music??!!!" Ahhhhhhh....if they only knew what's really out there.
Well, they're not giving people who don't know and listen to electronic music the shit that will get them to start liking it. All they play is vocal, cheesy music....Arrgggggggggggg But at night, it's a whole different story though. Ya got live broadcasts from Spi can Space, what more can a tronic head ask for!!!!!!

Here in Chicago the radio sucks, i rarely listen to it. We got 3 stations that play decent EDM on friday & saturday nights. Other then that a few shitty college stations with terrible reception that have certain hours of EDM. Im seriously considering satilite radio.

Posted by Matt Jay on Feb-18-2004 02:16:

we get about 4 hours a week of electronic music.

rarely ever is it trance

Posted by Salem on Feb-18-2004 02:34:

oh christ, you guys should here the stations in my city, Classic Rock , POP , Hard Rock , same ole same ole, it is a fuckin joke

i live in toronto...cheese cheese cheese..i heard ATRC one time but mostly crap all

i heard someoen say trance is palyed late at night..what station???

Posted by NYCTrancefan on Feb-18-2004 02:54:

Cheese, Cheese and more Cheese from KTU in NYC. Sometimes they play a couple of good trance but most time I have to turn off Britney, Beyonce and whatever is on repeat, as is the norm with radio. Thank goodness for the internet.

Posted by Sid on Feb-18-2004 03:04:

here in Sydney we also get about 4 hours of Trance late on Saturday night (you rock Cam, Rush on Nova nights is our only hope). Other than that we get the usual top 40 crap.

One radio station (JJJ) actually plays some alright electronica from time to time and is actually a pretty good radio station, as it doesn't always play the usual mainstream stuff.

I also live in Lexington, I can't knock the college station though. In an area overloaded with country music and dirty south rap, they are at least giving some exposure to electronica.

I just moved here from Orlando, Florida where they have multiple stations that play trendy breakbeats and the such and a massive amount of female vocals. It was good enough to be enjoyable with many live sets on the weekends.

Before that I lived in the Tampa Bay area which was pretty much the same as Orlando. All the breaks that you could desire. At least it made it to the radio in those areas.

In toronto we have Z1035 that plays cheese trance/hiphop/rock, one hip hop station and the rest are adult contemporary....though I never understood why we have 4 classical/jazz stations...who the fuck listens to those?
anyways at night though there is quite a few stations that play some good trance/house/drum n bass

Posted by poli on Feb-18-2004 07:42:

oh and one more thing, no stations play trance or barely any dance in most cities, yet when a dj comes to town the club is always packed and many people know the tracks that are being played.....confusing?

quite confusing, I would say. I work at a place that allows me to crank up the music, subwoofers and all (I'm a stereo installer) and even here in Lexington Kentucky, where EMD gets no airtime, people come in and recognize what I am playing, or comment on it (mostly good comments.) You would think more stations would be into the game, but they're not...

Word!

I love Rush....Cameron (a.k.a. waXology, one of our TAs) is one of the resident DJs, and the show is gold.

The station he is referring to is called Nova 969 in Sydney. Mostly they play the same as every other top 40 station, but on saturday nights, trance owns!

They play stuff such as :

armin_van_buuren_@_sublime_home_23-01-04_(nova969).mp3

In Germany we have a radio station called 'Sunshine Live' but they only play cheesy shit music like Scooter, Lasgo Ian van Dahl etc but nights the broadcast 'welcome to the club' (some sets were at dj2k for download) thats pretty decent trance but nothing interesting for me..

But we had a cool radio station called HR XXL they broadcasted the clubnight (Paul van Dyk 3h liveset every second year) and some other cool broadcast from the U60311 Club and they even broadcasted all the Mayday events.. Chris Liebing had his own radio show there called 'Pitch Control' and there was a Drum n Bass show with Bassface Sasha..
Too bad they closed their doors now...

[EDIT]
I just see HR XXL is called youfm now and theres still a clubnight but only 2 hours now
[/EDIT]

Never any good stuff, R&B, hip pop, eurodance (trance as they call it, *shivers*)

I remember Radio 1 playing some good stuff in the evenings or broadcasts of events a while back, havent listened recently so I dunno.
