the bubble someone mentioned, it was almost like the song sort of hiccuped for half a second, just the way everything went chaotic for half a second..

I really really need to get a better sound system or sound card or something..

overall, sounds great, I like what you've done. And yes, the vocals repeating the way you did is like JH - Nothing, which is still an awesome track IMHO.

The outro would have been nicer if you had toned down that kick to make it mellower. something similar although not a copy of the first 15 seconds, where its mellow. =)

Finally

Well, it has turned out to be a quality final version. Good job on the fixing of the piano which was sometimes off in the first version. That vocal loop you added works very well I must say.

It's just a great piece of music. Absolutely love it

Nice work ...it's a KEEEEEPER!!!

Posted by Bren-F on Feb-22-2004 02:55:

Quality work as usual Michi !

Posted by gothhenge on Feb-22-2004 06:52:

hmmm ... i guess it's kind of a love-it-or-hate-it thing. i'm not digging the vocal echo, though i like what you did with the vocal track around 6:20, and the instrumentation is nice throughout. The piano from the original track comes through sounding all bajiggity in places. I think I know what they mean by the "bubble" effect, it's almost as if the piano part is missing a few samples.

Anyway, it's all a matter of taste. you're a good producer, even if it's not my style. I don't like Aphex Twin either

Hey, you even included a percussion-only section at the end so it could be easily mixed into a set good thinking!

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-22-2004 07:27:

Nice chilled out remix, I like it a lot and I'm not even really a fan of Evanescence. Good job!

Posted by StealthAssassin on Feb-23-2004 07:50:

Great track mate. IMO the delay did get a touch annoying for me...it does give it that "nothing" feel though. Have you experimented with keyframing the intensity of the delay? Like just have the delay on the parts very she raise her pitch(ie "all the sanity in me", "Time can't erase") stuff like that. Cause I think that could make this an even more killer track. That's just my opinion.

Posted by GrimReaper on Feb-23-2004 11:10:

Great work yet again, Michael! This is much better as the 1st version IMO. Now the track works better as a whole and the delay is perfect to make it sound more like a real remix of the track. It instantly reminded me of the style of Nothing - 93 Returning Mix (which i love) as already been said here.. Looking forward to check your future works too!

Posted by seantyas on Feb-23-2004 15:01:

i am in agreement with everyone else.. good remix, but really, lose some of that delay, it makes notes drip into the next. and i know exactly why you did that, and it makes sense, to hide the fact that the original was never rec'd to a click track, so that piano and her vox never has a solid tempo.

the delay seems to work in parts now that im listening harder, itd be a good idea to automate the amountthat you send. with delay that much throughout the whole thing, it nkind of sucks the dynamics out of a song that could be extreeemely dynamic.

i do love it though and can easily work in any breaks or downtempo set

another final point. you really wanna start the track with just that shaker? start it where that kick drops..its much more inetersting there, and i know a few people , if they had popped that wax onto a listening table, itd be back in the sleeve before that kick ever dropped.
remember, the first 20sec -1min of any song is intended to grab the listener...

cannot wait to hear your following works bro. nice work

I thought it was awesome man, I look forward to hearing more stuff from you.

Posted by d-jay MyTH on Feb-24-2004 10:50:

Hello!

it seems that ppl either love the reverb or hate it. I personally find it annoying and not spacey like james holden, but instead disorientating.

I guess it is just a mattter of personal taste. But i do think that the first time you hear the song it takes a while to understand what's going on, therefore i don't think this could very work in a club atmosphere; too many vocals clashing is never a good thing but it sounds especially bad in a loud, club enviroment...i would just think the d-jaying is fucking up his mixing or something.

Could you not post another mix where the delay is not kept on for so long? It really is a great production apart from i think the delay is too loud and spans too long across the vocals.

Please consider posting a less reverby version for those who are not keen on the reverb

MyTH

I think it bangs to much.. this song would be sweet with a nice little lift thro the whole song. imo...

i still love it tho.. im saving it!

Posted by Syeker on Feb-27-2004 23:22:

Nice. Got used to the delay quickly. A solid production .

Posted by BeeJay on Feb-28-2004 11:58:

damn.. Micheal... this really good shit... I loved it very much!! I already liked the original one from Evanescene.. but this one is really amazing!!!

Posted by NinetyNinety on Mar-01-2004 02:26:

Good track, but I'm also asking you to tune down a bit on the reberb and make a clearer track, since it's a bit annoying. Good overall.

Posted by NoisyNeil on Mar-01-2004 20:13:

It gets quite boring after a while. Sometimes it sounds like the vocals (+ piano) don't really match the speed of the beat.
I'll give it 4/10.
No affence though, I can hear you quite capable of producing good build-ups and beats, that's really not the problem on this remix... It's the vocals and the boring factor of the track, it needs some more excitement and match the vocals and the beat

No Problem...It's always a problem with making everyone happy...impossible.
To the beatmatch: This original wasn't created with a fixed tempo...therefore it's hard to get it synchronized. Thanks for your comment...

Maybe check out my other mixes...in my opinion they're better. It's just the thing that this remix was really much appreciated by other people.

i really liked what you did with this track and with the Numb one aswell. Really kept the emotion of the original tracks in here, thumbs up. Only thing i miss is a good drive, like G&D always do with their tracks. It makes the track more mixable, i mean, sure i could mix this one in but it will stop all the energy in a set. If you work more on the drive in your tracks it will be absolute killers!

Posted by djGT on Mar-03-2004 06:27:

Such a beautiful track... and beautiful vocals. I enjoyed the delay/effects on the vocals, gives it a different flavor.

I want to use this in my next mix, if I have your permission too anyways, let me know!

Respect!
