I think this thread should be closed if some people here can't even be mature enough to hold a debate pertinent to the topic.

You were right under Heinz, it was an honest mistake, and I acknowledge it. I don't think laziness is the problem here, I do believe it would be lack of sleep and nicotine.... on that note.... *disappears*
Re: Religious debate on Jews/Passion of the Christ
Cyrus King was absolutely right in his first post here.
LouisLaBelle, that "grandpa" in Arbiter's avatar is Friedrich Nietzsche. Funny that you should point him out... it would do all of you religious zealots good if you read some of his books. I particularly recommend the Antichrist and Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
You people need to wake up. You are seriously living in a sickening dreamworld.

Originally posted by Arbiter I'd say that's a bit of an understatement. They're not the same people - the people who did that died a little less than 2000 years ago. They just happen to have the same ethinicity and/or religion that those people did. That's not being stubborn, it's being downright idiotic. Well he said you could flame on.

the bible also explains people like you. Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
quote:
they deny the existance of god, because if they accepted who god was, that would reveal how bad they reall are. who wants to be told that the way they live is the wrong way, and that you cant follow what u want to do, but must follow your creators will, to right all the wrongs in your life. but if you live in darkness, you dont want to see the light, because u love the darkness.
quote:
to people like cyprussking, acknowledging god would reveal to you, that your living your life in the wrong way, not according to jesus/god. so why acknowledge him?? that would just make you seem bad/evil, which you dont believe. so, its easier for you just to not acknowledge god, and to avoid the subject altogether.

quote:
you can believe after u die, u just rot in the ground, but other people would rather believe that their souls continue for eternity. because it is in our nature, that we dont want to die.
quote:
the day of judgement may be a very bad day for you crpressking. when you will finally see god right in front of you, asking you why you are not in the book of life. what are you going to tell him....nothing, therefore you will be eternally judged. many people dont want that to happen to them. those people are called christians. and on that day of judgement. god will instead say to them. "WELL DONE,MY GOOD AND FAITHFULL SERVANT. ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN" on that day, ill probably bow down and sob at his majesty, that finally life is over, no more suffering.

Originally posted by Cyrus King I just have to let this out There is no God There is no Heaven There was no supernatural Jesus When we die, we rot. We become one with existence itself in another form (creamation, burial, organ donar, frozen..etc..) Do you beleive in the tooth fairy...santa clause...elves, magical wizards, dragons, ghosts, the sandman....if not.. what makes you beleive such a similar character?? Jesus was supposed to return in 2000 wasnt he???? 2000 years after his death? To judge us? WHERE WAS HE?? I know.. i know.. you are going to give me some bullshit excuse or explanation about why or how he came or didnt come... If God was all powerful.. WHY WONT HE PROVE HIMSELF????? oh yes.. i forgot... we are a test!

Because no system of logic can ever be complete, there will always be things that are left unexplained... and God will be evoked to explain them. God is the residual, the epsilon at the end of the regression formula of the universe, if you will.

Originally posted by DJ-Kreing^^ I totally agree with you man, imagine the world with out all the religions and all that bullshit, Im sure it would have been a much better place to live in. Its so stupid, just think of all the people that loose their lives in the name of god.
Yeah some good points there michael.
Nice to see you here as well, It's a really good way for me to practice my English for the Final exams this summer.

Originally posted by Flotser On the other hand, think about a world without the "10 Commandments". why are you so sure that modern law as you know it today would be same without religion? yes, some people kill in the name of god - but for the majority of believers god and their religion are their strongest conscience - making them think twice before robbing a store, killing or even having sex with members of their family... p.s. Roman, nice to see you visit here

Originally posted by priveye03 Very good point. Non-extremist religion I believe can do some good. The principles that the church teachs can be a very good moral base for small children. I just think when it is taken as the only way and when logic is thrown out the window that it becomes dangerous.
Hollywood and religion? What could possibly go wrong?
Damnit! Damnit! Damnit!
I just don't wanna sit this one out! Hopefully it will close before I jump in....
Must resist a little longer.......
Okay, I couldn't resist, but I have a damn good reason. I ran across a nice article entailing the inaccuracies of Gibson's interpretation. The author of the article had a little involvement in the background of the interpretation of the film, and is Aurelio Professor of Scripture at Boston University. Pretty long, but worth a look:
