I have travelled in the USA and in Europe and in Canada. Overall, everwhere is different and the people are different..having good and bad qualities everywhere. The one thing that people forget is that America is a HUGE country where things don't always change as fast as they do in Europe, and there is a tendency for Americans to be insular and unexposed to other cultures etc...because they are the dominant world culture. However, I have never met kinder, friendlier, more giving people than in the States. I don't understand how it's ok to generalize about Americans, about them being arrogant, stupid, fat etc...but if I made similar generalizations about other cultures, I would be a racist. It's a double standard which shows how smug and generally pathetic we are in Canada and Europe.

I also wanted to mention that if it weren't for the USA, we wouldn't have electronic music in the first place...or most of the other inventions and technology that exist in this world. Chicago House and Detroit techno were exported to Europe and the UK where it then became commercialized over there. Did you know that the USA patents more products and inventions every year than the whole rest of the world combined? Not something you'd expect from stupid dumb Americans.

There was electronic music in Europe before there was Chicago House and Detroit Techno. Ever heard of Kraftwerk? Or Oscar Sala?

There're some things I wonder in America.

1) How can u ppl get so excited of stupid/crap tv shows there? Audience is always, no matter what happens, super-cheerful. "Yeah we've invented a new soap, yeah!" "YIPPEE!! *clap clap* WOHOO"

2) Why do they keep saying "oh my god" all the time? (watch the Survivors show for a great example)

3) How can god be mentioned even in money and other very important public places? Fortunately we're gradually getting rid of the fantasy in Europe. (I do allow others to have own gods/beliefs but u cant make your belief everybody others' by spamming it in public money/institutions)

4) Your laws.. not much to say..

5) "Let's all sue each others and have fun!" culture

6) This is for the current and former US Governments!: You are so full of hypocrisy!

7) Wannabe Land Of Freedom (and mentioning freedom all the time) and still being extremely conservative and unjust (to gay people for example)
---
That's something. To be honest I've never been in America and thus my view of Americans has come through TV/Magazines.
I would be glad to hear your impressions about Europeans . I'm sure our opinions of each others are some what "misty", not least because of our different culture/heritage.
As you hopefully noticed my flaming targetet mainly at the American culture, not at the inviduals themselves. Stupid ppl exist everywhere.

sorry for typos, ive been awake for ~40hours

Urban dictionary rules:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=American

On a more serious note, all generalizations are by definition false, so this thread is simply promoting stereotypes and so forth...go forth we shall

Behold, my arse.

3 days ago i've seen "Bowling for Columbine" and wonder if this hits reality or not...
I've never been to the US but would be interested in coming and experiencing all myself! But since you have to make this stupid, ridiculous and paranoid procedure to get into the US I won't come (what a loss for you )!

The main 'problem' is that the USamericans (I don't like to say AMERICANS cause canadians and mexicans are NOT meant I suppose..!) seem to have an arrogant point of view of the world, BUT because of the politicians and there behaviour!
The rest is quite nice i guess
