And all the attention whoring stars like Madonna, Christina and Britney kissing on stage on a show that young girls watch is disgraceful too. Then they think its cool, and the next thing you know, your daughter is on the cover of Girls Gone Wild. Trust me, your views will change as an adult with kids. The entertainment world should be a bit more considerate and discrete. And as far as Howard Stern goes, yea, his show is entertaining SOMEtimes...but he is the epitome of human scum. He exploits mentally handicapped people and has these stupid whores on his shows to talk about masterbation and sex and every single taboo topic you can think of. No body has any morals anymore including Howard Stern. Hes a stupid, ugly, scrawny fcuking tool who got lucky in showbiz.

my 2 cents

This rant on morality brought to you by a girl who lists her boyfriend's pants as her location...

Congratulations... you have fallen victim to the right wing propaganda machine. One of the conservatives greatest tricks has been convincing the American people that the media contains a liberal bias. In fact, the oppsosite is more accurate...

In the last presidential election, endorsements by daily newspapers went to Bush over Gore at a 2-1 ratio (%48 for Bush to %23 for Gore). Papers with a circulation of under 50,000 endorsed Bush 3-1, under 100,000 5-3, and over 100,000 5-4. Also, many papers that secretly endorsed Gore still touted Bush on the front pages...

Also noteworthy... in 1990 an independent study listed the top 7 nationally syndicated columnists by number of appearances in papers... 4 of the 7 were conservatives (George Will, William Safire, William Buckley, and James Kilpatrick). 1 of them was liberal (Ellen Goodman).

On the radio.. tell me of the "liberally biased" media that even comes close to having the exposure of Rush Limbaugh (twat), G Gordon Liddy (twat), Micheal Savage (uber twat), and Dr. Laura (evil incarnate).

Going on personal observations.... you'd have to be a damn fool not to notice the disparity between the way Bush was treated and the way Gore was treated by the press in 2000. Al had his name dragged through the mud by the press (phony "I invented the internet" quotes come to mind first).. while Bush and his horribly shady past went very much untouched.

You shouldnt be speaking of accuracy on this subject..

well, if you think about it, its people like him/her that closed space in miami, or took howard off the air. maybe if you didn't put words in my mouth i would sound less ignorant. I never said free thinking was bad, but if you want to take howard stern off the air because YOU don't like it then thats bs.

If you actually read the posts, you would know the only one that said the freedom to choose was bad slylee. and i choose to believe that attitude is crap

id be impressed, no wait, dumbfounded if you could concretely prove where i put words in your mouth. better yet show me where i said howard stern should be removed from the air. your argument is pure hypocrisy

i mean you were right, you never said free thinking was bad, you called someone who was thinking freely a "Whining Vagina" for doing so. Semantics, look it up

Originally posted by caddyshack I think you make or society crap. . Some of us enjoy Howard Stern, Southpark, ect.

the fact that you call yourself a member of the society that is founded on free speech and then you say slylee makes it crap is amusing.
you almost had a good argument going there, then you messed up

Maturity. how old are you?

you know what? i did read the posts, specifically slylee's upon your recomendation. if you can show me where she said the freedom to choose is bad, id be surprised. shes trying to live the way she wants and is speaking against the problem. you on the other hand dont like something and criticize the people and the system that allow you to even do so.

On another note, this must be that whole "culture war" thing we hear about so much in the "liberal media."

yeah, stern is still on here.

I am happy.

well until I move.

Who owns what?

http://www.cjr.org/tools/owners/index.asp

Does anyone else find some of these holdings disturbing? I mean with Disney, they have Mickey Mouse and the Family Channel with their Disney brand, and then they make porno/shoot em up films under Miramax. They also own ABC.

General Electric owns NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC.

Time Warner owns pretty much everything.

Vivendi owns most of the big music labels that sue 12 year olds:

Universal Music Group
MCA Records
MCA Records Nashville
Polygram
Motown
Decca Records
Deutsche Grammophon
GRP Recording Company
Geffen/DGC Records
Universal Records
Rising Tide
Interscope Records
Hip-O Records
Universal Music and Video Distribution
Universal Music International
MCA Music Publishing
Interscope Music Publishing
All Nations Catalog
Universal Concerts (concert promotion)

It's also comforting to know that Rupert Murdoch is in control of our Nation's foreign policy.

So now you see what I'm talking about when I talk of corporate control of the media?

They can just feed us what they want us to hear.

The only widespread US media sources free of corporate control are PBS and NPR.

That's it. Not surprisingly they are practically the only US media sources that covered the Iraq war, both pre-war, during, and post war, in a truly balanced way.

I can recall Fox News and MSNBC competing for who could outdo each other in their war cheerleading.

It's not just Bush, it's the entire US government and their political "i know whats best for everyone else" attitude/bullshit...I am moving to Jamaica where i can smoke my ganja in peace lol

In response to the Jackson breast bearing stunt the bush administration is now on a witch hunt to silence controversal media figures. First stop, Howard Stern. Clear Channel who has nearly a monopoly in radio, wants to play ball with the government and cancel Stern so it will continue to get favorable consideration from government regulators as it seeks expand its radio empire. Feel like the red scare of the 50's all over again, god i hate bush.

Why? If you had a 10 y/o son he is probably looking at WAY worse stuff on the internet, and has seen much younger nicer titties...All these people need to just chill the fock out and realize that you can't shelter your children forever and furthermore the harder you TRY to shelter them the more theyare going to want to view things of such nature...My parents didnt hand me the porn or anything, but they didnt exactly try to keep me sheltered in a boobless room my whole life either, and I think im a much more well rounded individual because of it...GET OVER IT! IT WAS A TIT! YOU SUCKED MILK OUT OF ONE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER THAN 10!

haha i fully agree...whining vaginas, rofl...imo, the filthier the tv and music and more violent the better...it makes it way more interesting, if we still had to watch leave it to beaver i think i might shoot myself in the face...

[i][b]that way, the poor kids who can't afford designer clothes won't get labeled and all that bullcrap. little steps like these can hopefully make a big change in the long run.

by the way, thanks jinxed84...

Are you really that close-minded? Kids will be kids, sure theres bad shit that kids do these days, but kids have always done bad shit...it just so happens that the bad shit kids do changes as society changes....blame anything you want, but don't take it away from us...If your kids are dressing like whores at school it's your own damn fault for BUYING them whore clothes...and if you honestly think kids wont be made fun of because they have to wear uniforms you are DEAD wrong...fat kids, poor kids, and retarded kids will always be made fun of for being what they are because children are cruel and a uniform will not change that, it will ONLY make the fat, poor, and retarded kids feel uncomfortable and itchy while they sit through algebra and get gum thrown into their hair. I went to catholic school, I wore a uniform...It itched my ass to NO END, and i might add that the fat girls only got made fun of worse in the uniform because it accentuated their gargantuan body parts...

ms.god i think u forgot to read certain parts of my posts...i said that i will not be that close minded, naive mother trying to shelter my kids. i'm just saying that there should be a line that can't be crossed. i also said that school uniforms are a good idea for kids who can't afford the nicer clothes...not for girls who dress like sluts to school...of course that is the parent's fault.

and it's easier said than done to just teach your kids to avoid taunting...it's going to affect them no matter what.

all of you who think i'm this close-minded tight ass couldn't be any farther from the truth. i have watched many episodes of south park (and other shows of that nature) with a fat joint in my hand, laughing my ass off....i'm the most easy going person and those of you who have met me will agree. let me just remind you that i am simply saying that I UNDERSTAND WHY SOME PEOPLE (like parents) ARE UPSET W/ THE MEDIA and i'm just explaining WHY they are upset. all these raunchy shows should be for adults...i am an adult, i've watched them. i don't particularly like howard (for reasons i stated in earlier posts), but i mean the world would be a nicer place without him on the air. and i dont understand what you all are worried about....i'm sure there will be some other raunchy schmuck to take his place in no time

Posted by ShivaStudios on Feb-27-2004 18:44:

I don't agree with alot of what Howard Stern does... But I choose not to listen... As an American, it's my right... As a parent, I choose to not let my children listen to it... When the hell are we going to start taking self-responsibilty?... I don't agree with alot that goes on in the world, but who am I to tell them to stop?... Who the hell is Bush to tell us what we can't and cannot listen to or watch...

I don't agree with irresponssibilty of public celebrities... But I also don't agree with tolitarian actions on a country as a whole...

Posted by Slylee on Feb-27-2004 21:53:

well i'm sure if Bush had to choose between Howard Stern watcher votes, and non Howard Stern watcher votes....he'd choose the non watchers...

Howard Stern watchers probably aren't even registered to vote

i'm one of them...i haven't grown to appreciate or follow politics just yet...

Posted by Zombie0729 on Feb-28-2004 02:43:

i have numbers & fact's just like yours... i doubt we will ever really know what has control of the media... i'm kinda over arguing about it too.

i've heard worse on LoveLine. If i remember correctly, Adam Corolla insisted listeners to brutalize the handicap. still funny, but c'mon

heh. black people around here call themselves that all the time, and i don't see anybody punishing them for it.

hmmm...fucking injustice. Black privilidge? White opression?
