trance has never been as good as now IMO

you have to wait until summer to make a fair judgement...of course all of the best stuff doesn't start getting released and played out until summer...

Yeah, but there are typically rumblings by March of what's up and coming. I'll reserve judgement until the end of this month, or into April, but to be honest I think 2004 is sucking so far too.

hehehe i thought that you'd like that...definitely a bad ass song...can't wait for it to come out...i thought that it would fit that tech-trance feel that you love hehehe...

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Mar-03-2004 18:00:

Most of the good material doesn't even start to surface until May or so, around the time when all the parties are starting. You'll see, it will pick up.

Late Fall/Winter/Early Spring is a downtime for the scene because most of the DJs and producers are making new material.

HAH!
I feel your pain...Trance IMHO, hasn't produced any chart toppers for me at all this year

I've been listening to a lot of sets from 99-2000 lately (for the past 2 months), since we're lacking any quality productions.

2003 has been going very well...but ever since 2004 started, i hvn't encounter any real quality uplifting melodic trance track yet. all the quality song i bought from jan 2004, to present ar either from 2003, or re-released (not produced in 2004)...

i no im a picky record buyer, but it was until yesturday that i couldn't take it anymore after 3 weeks of keeping up to date for the latest tracks, and came up with no real uplifting energy track (eg dj tatana vs the mystery-soul cry)...

i no this has been discussed before, but trance at the present state is being overwhelmed by vocals........and a lot of the tracks, ar so cheesy that they sound almost like POP music.... and they're always being overrated all the time......... !!!i always wanted more tracks like armin van buuren-dido universial religion mix, but producers nowadays just seem to hv lost all their talents !!!

plz take this thread seriously, and i wanna no wht u guys think

im afraid to say this, but i so agree, the new 2004 trance just sucks, its not abt melodys and uplifting vibes anymore, its about basslines and percussion etc.

it has changed over the years, 1999-2001 was the golden years of trance, its kinda deteriated over time...

im more into drum n bass/rock now so...owie.

however this topic reminds me of the topic i made a while back, saying that how im drifting away from trance and not coming back...

i will still listen to trance, just the old stuff, fuck the new shit.

Posted by DjCoz on Mar-03-2004 18:55:

Cool

Whenever I don't like something I look at it as my responsibility to change it. If you really want a quality track, learn some production software and produce the 2004 phenomenon, if you don't wanna put in the effort, learn to like what's out there.

So true. Thanks for saying it.

Almost all the online DJs play the same boring stuff: a slightly more saccharine version of Armin's playlist. Ah well, I suppose they have to in order to keep the internet listeners (I mean that seriously, too; the donations have to come from somewhere).

Check Fictivision vs Phynn - Escape if you want some quality tunage without vocals.

Hmm, let's take a look here...

02.27.2004

01. Peter Martin - Perfect Wave
02. Andrew K pres. Junk Science - Jataka
03. Mark Otten - Tranquility (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
04. Oceanlab - Satellite (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)

06. Lili Haydn - Anything (Gabriel & Dresden Code 313 Dub)

08. Airwave - Ladyblue (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)

02.02.2004

01. Invisible Inc - Stars
02. Kinnie Star - Alright (Blackwatch Remix)
03. Gwill Morris - Forme (Leama & Moor Remix)
04. BT - Force Of Gravity (DLM vs Diffas Pure Pleasure at 129 Mix)
05. Henry Hill - Wiseguys
06. Subsphere - Beautitude
07. Salt Lake - Rendezvous (Recluse Mix)
08. Pinkbox Special - The French Dont Cry
09. ID

01.19.2004

01. Finor - Dilemma (Original Mix)
02. Aly & Fila - Spirit Of KA (Markus Schulz Remix)
03. Evanescence - Bring Me Back To Life (Sultan Remix)
04. Infusion - Girls Can Be Cruel (Dub Mix)
05. Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body Rock (DJ Dan Remix)
06. Katana - Tribal Shock (Perry O'Neil Remix)

08. Powerplant - Blame (Luke Chable Remix)
09. Yunus & Subsky - Erotic Sumo

12.22.2003

01. The MFA - The Difference It Makes (Original Mix)
02. DJ Yoshi - Dreamer (Luke Chable Remix)
03. Whirlpool - Under The Sun (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
04. Miro - By Your Side (Sonorous Bright Side Mix)
05. Mark Otten - Tranquility (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix)
06. Jark Prongo - Running Wild
07. Solar Factor - Fashion Slam
08. Infusion - Girls Can Be So Cruel
09. Brass Monkey - Big Ride

At most there is about 50% of his tracklist that contains what you mentioned. Take a look at any DJ that produces and you'll see at least 2 songs that they've taken part of in the tracklist so all his Coldharbour Remixes can be excused. Oh and they're actually remixes...not just the same song with a different beat added so it's easier for the DJ to mix (I think we all know who I'm getting at here...).

Posted by tubby on Mar-03-2004 23:03:

isn't there still snow on the ground in large parts of the northern hemisphere? Why would artists waste their efforts by releasing their good works when people are not out and partying? come april/may as the summers big hits are starting their promotion drives there will be more and more good stuff come out.
I find it funny how many people spend a fortune on crap music at times like this and then whinge how they have no money. If it's not good don't buy it, and wait for something worth the money.

Posted by slinkyhead on Mar-03-2004 23:19:

i seem to remember it being quiet this time last year. i reckon some of the better tunes that should have been out in jan and feb have been held back for the Miami Winter Music Conference.

ill reckon there will be a lot of new stuff being played there

Try listening to the Adam Sheridan Essential Mix

Posted by humgalin on Mar-04-2004 07:47:

dudez......i no most of the tracks u guys suggested....but as i was saying most of those good tracks ***are from 2003****.....NOT 2004 which realy bug me!..... i was really frustrated that for 3 monthes.....there hv only been very few good tracks made, well in my opinion, less than 5..

and yeah. i dont only mix uplifting trance, i mix almost all styles....some breaks, tech-trance, hard-trance, progressive trance, hard house, techno, and etc..... so im not the kind that only focus on uplifting trance..
