-- what's better? drunk, tweaked, or normal while mixing?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
normal is good.. but a few drinks to loosen things up would be better.
Well, I think I mix best after eating a few tabs of high powered blotter acid, or after a nice meal of magic mushrooms, HELL even after smoking a couple rocks of crack... really clears up the mind and gets me thinking straight.......................
But on a more serious note, NO i don't do any of the drugs above, (well i have DONE mush, but not no more), and I think I mix better after a couple (2-3) beers, but the beers have to be 6.1%..
Good 'ol Canadian Beer...

Generally just a couple of beers while spinning, but I've done a couple of nice online sets after coming home pissed drunk from an electronic night at a club.
Sober or maybe a beer is good, just to loosen up ... though I did try spinning once when I was quite wasted... OMG I could hardly see let alone hear the music.
after a blunt, mixing seems so much more fun...
after a pill, mixing seems so much more invigorating...
Generally i mix much better when completely clean, although i get more excited and more creative when stoned, especially with faders and eq.
Mixing drunk is a rather bad idea, it seems my pitch is perfect all the time, so i can only imagine what the other people hear
dJohn, i never tried mixing with pills, however my dj friends tell me that doing so is a VERY bad idea... because it is said that you will mix much better, however there is a price you pay because for that - you might be more easily addicted to it (much more than the regular clubber at least).
Mixing while normal all the way. Its awesome fun anyway.
booze sucks. tweeking is for e-tards.
so gimme dat blunt and my record bag!

| Originally posted by dJohn Trust me, I don't know if it's a bad idea, but the part where you mix better is SO true...melodies will never seem as bright and colorful(aurally) and basslines will never seem as hard and punching. It's impossible to get chemically hooked on E, so yeah, I guess the awesome feeling of completness while spinning, blaring Marco V basslines at 6 in the morning can get stimulating... |
2 beers or a nice blunt (never mix the two together) and I'm at my best.
My mixing is and transitions are @ there best when sober. But when I've been drink a lil my tracklistings are @ there best.
Fully rested is the way for me. No drugs. I don't need them to be creative when spinning. Maybe a beer or two though is ok sometimes and every once in a while I'll have a mixed drink(preferably vodka) just for shits and giggles.
st. john's wart
don't know if any of you have heard of this but..
i like to take st. john's wart before i spin sets. it's an herb they sell at most natural food stores. it relaxes me and really helps me connect with the music. you all should try it sometime. you gotta take a lot to feel the effects though..
pEy
to keep me on the safe side when mixing i usually always keep an vodka bottle at home and takes a glass or two before the mixing session. As borron said u get more creative with the eq's which i usually ain't when im sober, this will make the mixing an even more of a experience even if the beatmatching can lack sometimes when drunk.
