TristanF, Twilo closed because the bouncers there would throw people who passed out in a closet. I think a kid passed out on the dance floor the the bouncer threw him in a closet and the kid died. Then Twilo got sued by the kids parents and that was the end of it.

A good friend of mine knew people at twilo, and there is a "closet" they call it. the bouncer will basically smack someone who has passed out and is alone and if they dont wake up then they are thrown (literally, ive heard) into this nasty closet filled with other kids. when morning comes they open the closet and everyone stumbles out not knowing what happened. (you have to be really fu cked up to get in there) I heard Taub ended in that closet a couple of times.

VanFleet, I read your unedited post yesterday, but never got the free time to respond.

Maybe the demise of Twilo was due to a different reason, but staying in business for Sound Factory was contingent upon maintaining a sniffing dog "vigilant" on the premises during opening hours as ordered by the court. Not only did they violate that, they are facing an array of some other serious charges as we all know. I just hope that you are right and I am wrong, but IMO the only way we will see SF re-open is under a different management and name.

On another note, wasn't it only 4 months ago that the City was considering replacing the old cabaret law with even a more conservative one, requiring from all bars and clubs a 'nightlife license' (read: impossible to obtain), and enforcing a closing time of 1:00 AM?! That's right. 1:00 AM! What the f***?!! Can someone update us on this? Are they still talking about this outrageous idea or did they decide to go for more pressing issues, such as seeking psychiatric help?

We desperately needed this revival that is happening right now, and we will be perfectly all right with no SF in the picture if only these narrow-minded fools who know nothing about EDM and the culture just stop being so stubbornly and ignorantly against us! This is what we get after all that NYC and the scene went through the past 2-3 years. But you know what? Things will get only better and better, and if this is debauchery, then they haven't seen the half of it! 2004, here we come!!

as soon as I got off the plane my cell blew up with voicemail from people telling me how SF got raided and how a new joint that opened up over by my house got raided by the DEA.

Weird eh?

yeah that's a good point, but i'd say we're pretty used to this kind of stuff happening in nyc by now.

That law is not going to be put in place. I work in City Hall. It was just a stupid idea by one of the idiot Commissioners Bloomberg put in place. So u guys don't have to worry about that. But the city is definitely cracking down on the nightlife. As long as kids keep messing themselves up like they have, the city is gonna be breathing down the backs of clubs.

LOL...
