where all the exclusive material to make this cd stand out from the rest?

ill download it.. no wait ill just put the last 10 asot on cycle and that pretty much covers it.

pathetic for someone in armins position to put out such a predictable double cd.

he's probably got loads of un-released material on his armada label that hasnt been played out at all yet, but we get the same selection of tunes as always.

seriously, whats the difference between this and an episode of asot? nothing, ill continue to listen to asot for free thanks mr van boring.

haha. yes i wish i'd take a new direction sometimes, but im truly addicted to trance still. ill keep digging up more old releases though to satisfy my production quality needs!

Is this gonna have a american release?

I dont wanna pay double for pounds or euro to us currency and import price....

Posted by tranceDJ on Mar-11-2004 05:17:

I remember looking foward to armin mixes but those days are long gone. I think this is due to the lack of good trance tunes lately or maybe Armin's going downhill...or both. I dunno, not many trance mixes nowadays that you could call 'innovative'.

Posted by Ghostface on Mar-11-2004 09:09:

Sounds good but I wouldnt buy it.

This CD is a great oppurtunity to legalize your ASOT's.....

no sensorica.........

I love Armin, and I religiously listen to ASoT, but the question ,why bother?' comes to mind with this set.

People who know ASoT probably have all of their favourites in MP3 or even burned to disk already anyway...it's just odd to see him giving away the tracks so to speak one week, and then trying to charge for them the next.

Of course, I rarely buy compilation disks anyway...artist albums, yes, possibly worth it for the full clean versions of songs, new material...but why should I pay Armin for Solid Globe's work? I respect his skills as a DJ, but come on, if he wants my money for spinning someone elses music then he should come to my local club more often

Posted by Electronicmaji on Mar-11-2004 16:27:

Well its basically for people who arent djs...normal listeners who want to have legal music and I would buy it because its a overview of this years best trance in a mixset and its always good to have that plus down here im on 56k so it would be hard to download....

And I like to buy cds from the artists I support and I also like to be legal

Posted by CortexBomb on Mar-12-2004 14:34:

Last I knew there was nothing illegal about having MP3 copies or burns of a show that was played on the radio...

And I agree that it's for ,normal' listeners, but how many of these normal listeners actually tune in and then can't get a copy of the show if they liked it?

For DJ's the artist albums are usually useless too, since most of the time they're mixed, and usually include mixes that are middle of the pack in quality (IMHO at least, sometimes they have the best mixes, but it's just a matter of numbers).

Don't get me wrong here, I hope this sells well for Armin, but I've always had a hard time understanding why a DJ should be able to get a huge chunk of money for putting his name on a CD that is simply a collection of other people's work with perhaps a track or two of their own thrown in for good measure.

Oddities of the dance music scene in general I s'pose.

In yesterdays ASOT, armin was apologizing for having to put commercials in the mix because he knew people recorded it...

Posted by Bi4a on Mar-12-2004 22:12:

hmm so when i't'll be released???, and which tracks will first sampler include? or is it unknow?

Posted by puckhead on Mar-12-2004 23:21:

I guess this could be really good for me since I don't listen to his radio shows.

+1

I get the feeling Armin doesnt just make cds for people who listen religiously to ASOT.
Having said that, you would hope that he put alot of thought into this cd, and just didnt release it for the sake of releasing a cd, as some people here maybe suggesting

Posted by sigmanova on Mar-13-2004 22:27:

looks like a great compilation!...but gahhh Sahara...i just don't feel that track...already have bias towards the cd...hehe

so its no longer 'non-stop in the mix'?

i guess there are probably more people who don't listen to the radio show and who don't download recorded mixes off the internet so why not make a compilation like that? a lot of the time i think when people complain about a song being 'old' they are referring it to when they heard it once or twice on a show like ASOT when the track is actually new and may not be out yet, or they downloaded an mp3 when the track again isn't actually out in the shops. so these songs might still be quite new, and again not everyone listens to radio shows and downloaded mixes so a lot of people will like this and good for them

personally i think im more likely to buy a cd with songs i know instead of one with all new stuff because then i know ill be buying a new cd. i guess there is also the thrill of discovering something new and unknown but hey
