Probably because he has chose to go with CD's because he likes the flexability that they afford. If he needs a track he can use an online program to download the song that he needs from somewhere like hooj or maybe the iTunes music store or wherever. He doesn't ahve to track down that rare vinyl which can be fun and very rewarding when you finally obtain it but sometimes you do need the song for a mix you want to do and can't really wait for it.
Not to mention that you get better sound quality from CD's
Many would argue that vinyl has a better sound........
Peter.Haze -----> you are a fool.
(1) Nell obviously has thousands of CDs and shows a lot of support for artists. You, on the other hand, have proceeded to flame away, without showing any evidence that YOU in fact buy lots of music and support the artists.
(2) Show some respect. You haven't been around here for anywhere near as long as Nell, so please think before you post.
(3) There is nothing wrong with choosing to DJ with CDs. Paul Van Dyk does it, Gabriel & Dresden do it, many of the leading DJs in the world are starting to use CDs and/or Final Scratch. You may be a diehard vinyl addict, and i have no problem with that, but that does not mean that vinyl is infinitely superior to CDs.....both formats have their advantages and disadvantages.

Ya it all depends on what kinda sound you want. Some people prefer vinyl to cd just as some people prefer analog to digitally recorded audio pretty (pretty much the same thing) it all depends on your ears and brain and what you like the sound of.
wow there are either some very stupid, very ignorant or very deluded people in here.
1. CD's are no easier or more difficult than vinyl to mix with
2. about 95% of the big dj's will play atleast some tracks on cd if not all in some cases.
3. peter haze, ur a c u n t.
4. if u think djing on cd is lame then u obviously know fuck all about the trance scene or wot is going on in the dj world.
5. ... nah im out
thanx for listening

I think dave dresden is technically a fucking great DJ. josh gabriel however is not. But g&d are not my style at all. bored me to death at the NEC and also at Casino. But can't argue with their mixing. And I seriously can't understand what diff it makes whether u play ur tracks from CD's, vinyl, final scratch, or even mini discs ffs. If there was a huge screen infront of the booth, and a DJ played all his tracks from cd's, you would be none the wiser of what format he is playing in, but u would still dance to the music. Stop talking such bollocks.
