-- Review: Ferry Corsten @ Guvernment - March 13 2004
Pages (9): « 1 [2] 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 »
Most fucked up experience ever, waited in line outside nearly 1.5 hrs, so we had no choice to lineup in the kool haus line, and buy wristbands
I was on the dancefloor, some idoit knocked me and my camera fell , i lost all the pictures and the memory chip, i couldnt find it.
After that we went into the booth the bouncer kept threatning us, while moonshine tried to get his cds signed, i feel sorry for you shawn man. the bastard made him wait for 3 hrs and let all the chicks get in.
IT WAS FAAAAAAAAAAAKKKING PACKED!!!, THE MOST PACKED I EVER SEEN GUV!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU RUN THE GUV AND YOUR READING THIS!!!, WHATTT THE FAAACKKK WERE YOU THINKING???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For all of you people who bitch & complain about how rammed the club was, i think you all need to relax & think for a sec... maybe if they didn't let your ingrateful ass into the place it wouldn't be that rammed.... It's a business... if you don't like it that rammed DONT GO!
you all complain about this and that and never appreciate the hard work these people to do 1) get the club running 2) make things go as smooth as possible and mostly 3) bring these big names in for you people!
I don't work for the club, or any club in that matter.. but it seems that alot of you people take this stuff for granted.. world's best dj's for under 20$ canadian.... go to vegas, l.a, new york, etc and try and find a regular night that's under $20!
THINK before you speak/type
ya but 20$ cuz theyre letting in twice the # of ppl, id gladly pay 40$ for it not being super rammed
oh and i saw someone spinning those red lights that spell out something...it said 'fire code violation' haha
Oof.... SO sleepy...
Yes, the Guv was seriously rammed - I think it was the most packed that I had ever seen it and even I contemplated leaving at one point. BUT! it was definitely worth every second, since the group of peeps I was with more than made my night, with an added bonus of some wicked tunage brought to us by Ferry Corsten.
I also did end up buying a wristband to get into Kool Haus, which I used on more than one occasion when Guvvie crowds became a little too much to bear. Lots of room to dance there and Digweed was kicking it whenever I was in the room.
Special thanks to James the bouncer for our special bypass, to Julie and Sandrine (Bubblegirl) for being constant Guvvie partiers in crime over the last 2 years and to the freaky one himself, Gavin, for the beginning of a crazy birthday week! And to all my peeps, I love you one and all, you know who you are
Oh, and Malek, it was GREAT to finally meet you (thanks Emery!) and Margs, I enjoyed our walks together!!!!!!
Track List
Those of us who had memory-inhibiting substances would appreciate a track list please??
that'd be suuuuuper.....
I came there like at 10 and there was hardly any line at all.. ferry dropped everything I wanted him to drop (punk, rock your body rock) etc it was awsome how the crowd was chanting and singing along to the songs really nice to see! I think guv should lower thier limit just a litttttttttttttttle bit
honestly, why don't they charge $40-$50 and let in half as many people...that would be good....night sucked ass, fuck all the hard work they put into running the place...if they didn't ram it so much maybe they wouldn't have to be such assholes...and work so hard running the place...
example..Im in the coat check line...and this guy who was about 30 was standing there and his wife tried to pass him her coat, and the big dumb idiot bouncer who was there, tossed her in the back of the line....WTF? Then to be a bigger prick, he told her husband to go to the back as well, for the fun of it....stupid pricks, Guv has the worst bouncers...rude and fucked up on crack...
Music was excellent, better than I ever saw ferry play....but the crowd sucked as usuall, and it was too rammed...why do I keep coming back....I dunno, been quite some time since I was last there, and sometimes it is not that bad....last time for armin, they had the upstairs open and that made the world of a difference...why they closed it off I dunno....
Could someone make a tracklist?
I am especially interested in Ferry's opener, and the track played after and before Ligaya....
Didn't know those....also, left at 4:30am so if anyone can list some tracks played afterwards, please do...
Suprise of the night for me, while I was there, Chicane - Autumn Tactics [ thrillseekers remix ], never would have thought I would hear that track live...
Also shout out to the two guys I met near the end, they made it somewhat sane for the time being...
thanks...
First Track: Ferry Corsten - Kyoto (I THINK)
the other one I dunno
What remix of sweet surrender did he play ?
Great night!
Ferry did a great job, one banging tune after another, never let up. Some of my personal highlights of the night was when he dropped Punk. The crowd went nuts, as soon as he was mixing it in, everyone knew what it was and were already going crazy. I think the best part of the night for me was when Corsten dropped Thrillseekers - New Life. Hearing this song loud sent chills down my spine, it was bliss, amazing, words can't describe. I think he played a remix of it though, maybe a Hydra or Thrillseekers remix cause it sounded like there was a Hydra - Affinity bassline in the song as well. Either way the song was awesome.
Some other tunes:
Green Atlas - Circulation
Matt Hardwick vs. Smith and Pledger - Day One (Above and Beyond Remix) <--- this song sound awesome in the Guv
Ferry Corsten - Kyoto (opened with it, great too)
Ferry Corsten - Right Of Way
Shit, can't remember anything else, lots of songs never heard before too.
Also, on a sidenote, was I hearing wrong or did Roland Van Gelderen finish with Luis Paris - Incantation (Ferry Corsten and Robert Smith Remix)? If I was hearing right, then that was awesome. Loved hearing that song again, great way to get things going before Ferry came on.
Anyways, overall, awesome night. Guv rammed as usual, it sucks but the music was great. That's what I paid for and that's what I got. I'll be there for Labour of Love when Ferry returns for sure.

Hahahaha but seriously what a great night!!!
Me and my buddy Roman stood in the geustlist line and recognised a few of the TA's right behind us!
Then we got up and caaught the last bit of Kid Vicious' set damn it was awsome! Then when Ferry came on and it just went crazy!!
Again we ended up near a lot of TA's and everyone was very friendly! (Sorry if I didn't get some of your names or introduce myself)
Even though the place was jam packed, Ferry's set blew me away! It was just phenominal, everyone around was just eating it up!
We ended up heading out around 4, I can't belive Ferry played till 8, he sure knows how to please the crowd!
Heres some pics from the night:
My best Pic of Corsten

Left:Me (Guy with the cool Corsten #1 Jersy too!)
Right:My friend Roman
guv rammed - what else is new...anyone expecting less than what they saw last night is being ignorant and blindly hoping for a miracle....Guv will always be packed on a night like last night and those type of nights will ALWAYS HAPPEN....they are the reason tthe club is the success it is.
I knew it was going to be a special night but hoooolyy...8.20..8 freakin 20...8 hour set....spoke to mark briefly and he joked that ferry just didnt wanna leave the decks.
this is gonna be a tough night to top...easily easily my best time ever at guvernment...Other than my first time in that main room...with armin.
*drool*
p.s. ONE MONTH TO GO!!!!let the armin countdown begin.
holy shit!
the oarty was so packed i think i had physical contact with every single TOTA member. But Ferry was absolutly headbanging awsome, greatest tunes dropped, best atmosphere. 11/10 for Ferry, guvernment should of put Ferry in the main guv room, much bigger.
Wow. I got there at 11, and waited an hour and a half to get in. I guess I shoulda got there earlier! It was packed pretty tight, but what can you expect when Ferry comes to town? The music was banging all night long. I got to meet a few TA's, but I only remember one name - Maxtuh, nice to meet ya, sorry to hear about your camera.
To all those people who are there to dance, I love ya. To all those people who seem to be there to walk around in circles, I don't love ya.
Ferry 10/10
Guv: 6/10 - They could have jacked the price a bit and let in less people, and seeing endless people grease the bouncers to skip line pissed me off a bit too.
Oh... and piss off with the whistles!
BANGIN set without a doubt... packed up the a** but let up around 3ish.... no words can explain the set Ferry dropped... unreal.

Ferry just saved the night. I left at 7-45 and he was still spinning and going crazy!
Overall :
Ferry - 10/10
Guverment - 1/10 for letting us all know how Labour of Love 2002 was.
WTF were they thinking? Apparently KH was half empty most of the time

Awosome night.
What more can I say about Ferry Corsten?
He dropped one of his best set.
I say the best set he spun in TO.
I was totally satisfied... Ye~
although it was shitty to wait in line for around 2 hours and missed Kid Vicious...
and the Guv was over packed as I expected.
Hope to meet him in better place next time!

I arrived home not too long ago.
well i gotta say that
Koolhaus >>>> Guv
the sound at the guv was horrible and the people were absolutely rude. crowded? meh, not surprised.
I left at 4ish, was affraid that the last buttons on my shirt would be ripped off by passers rubbing off. (3 of them were gone by 1)
and was way too tired
nice to meet everyone, so many of you!! I met maybe 40-50 different people so i am really sorry for not being able to name you all
Well what can I say, I had a decent time last night. Of course it sucked how packed the Guv was, and how little oxygen there was, but I kept positive throughout the experience to the best of my ability. The worst people in the crowd, were those on drugs, for they were the only one's who couldn't tell that they were constantly banging into you. Everyone else at least was TRYING to avoid one another...
I wish my best friend coulda tolerated it all a lil better, he HATED it, and although he was being really nice about it, I had to leave with him at 5am when I figured Ferry would be finishing up. Now I wish I coulda stayed till the end (8:22am!?!). All I wanted to do was dance... I woulda danced from beginning to end if the company I was with could 've allowed it... I guess I gotta reconsider who I go party with next time, cause sometimes it's too hard to have a good time with some people...
Kid Vicious played a decent set, some good tunes in there... And Ferry, well, overall wasn't bad.. he played a handful of VERY good tunes, quite a few average decent trancers, and the rest was shit... I dunno if it's just me, I'm becoming too desensitized to average tunes, I hate them. and I can't stand the prog... where's the MELODY!?
Best tune I'm glad I heard and got to dance to last night was:
F Massif - Somebody (Ferry Corsten remix)
I too wish they'd charge more and have half the amount of people in there. It's the same old shit everytime, and it will never improve.. ever. I guess the KH now takes the cake for venue over the Guv by far... another bitch (last one I swear) is the sound system. WTF are those sound engineers doin?? When you have a Phazon soundsystem you can tweak it so that you get the best, loudest and CLEAREST sound out of it if you wanted to, but noooooo, all they fuckin care about is BASS BASS BASS... at some points you cant even hear the tune playing, just kick and bassline noise...
Other than the negatives, I had a great time. Some decent tunes were played, got to see and meet alot of new TA's. My sister was supposedly there but I didnt see her all night. Oh, and as usual, lots of beautiful women were present (what else there to do when you cant dance???)
*sigh*
I just wanna dance...
P.S: Surprisingly, I managed to appear in a couple of Maxtuh's pics (Im the dude ALL the way to the right in the baby blue top, talking to Dj Vibez): http://www.trance365.com/modules.ph...&func=3ppds.htm
Ferry kicked ass. Yes, it was crowded, but honestly, I don't think it was any more crowded than most special events. Yes the coat check line sucked. (They lost my coat for the second time in a row). But it always sucks. the crowds, the heat and the tight space are all part of any event at the Guv... Once you accept it, you can focus on having fun (it's a zen thing).
