So this forum should be changed to serve people who are going to be producers but aren't yet?

Only if you wanna take it too literally I personally think "Amateur" is fine...

Heh, yeah, like I said earlier I don't really care if the forum was called "pancakes and waffles on a stick"-forum if the content stays the same.

no

the name amatuer doesn't necessarily say how good or bad one is. It simply means that one doesn't do it for their profession hence the name professional. I think that it doesn't really matter one way or another but I will agree with some above it may encourage new artists to post some of their music even though it isn't amazingly great, that way we can all help more people which is what this is all about. have a good one folks keep rocking.

yes please remove it

Mesa think "Dj Promotion" and "Music Producers" will do.

if not. a question like this will rice.
"who is amateur, and who's not."

"you.....you.. not you... but you .... and you"

Disco Stu Agrees with you!

Yeah, should leave 'Amateur'. There are a lot of more pro producers. Some of them much better than the ones who are at a label.

Posted by John on Apr-10-2004 08:29:

it doesnt really matter what's the name of this forum to me. so i voted yes (ok, that doesn't made any sense)

Posted by Cloudburst on Apr-10-2004 20:25:

Music Producers Promotion has a better ring to it imo. Amateur is uneccesary.

Posted by Teknikol on Apr-14-2004 21:02:

no, more amateurs than signed producers.

Posted by Massive84 on Apr-21-2004 13:04:

it should be just music promotion section imo, it's not up to the producer to say if he/she is a pro or an amateur, you see it's the crowd that decides, and you are here after all to promote stuff, and if there is anything that needs to be corrected, people say it.

either way nik is right, if the content of this section stays the same, i don't really care.

I think that some producers here might be offended by being defined as "amature".
there are pleny people here who are much more than amatures, while some are as pro as every other well-known DJ.
so in my opinion, and as said before, best title would be Music Producers Promotion

Posted by Stephenox on Apr-25-2004 02:01:

I don't think dropping the amateur in the name will encourage more professionals to be in here, because if they're good what's to be afraid of anyway? I think the word amateur actually does encourage people who aren't as good as the pros to post their own tracks so that they can learn "the ways" as well. I'm seeing that from my perspective as a relatively new TA, and I'm not quite sure if I would have had the guts to post in there if it hadn't been for the word amateur, although I'm already pretty scared of you really really good pro people. *bow*

Posted by tu_face on May-06-2004 11:08:

to be fair, how many people actually get payed for making music in this forum? i would guess at less than 5% of the users who post here, which makes most people amateurs in the literal sense of the word. but then again, a lot of tracks that come out of here (way more than 5%!) do not sound in any way amateur.

i think just 'music producers promotion' will be just fine, but i think people seem to get the wrong meaning of the word amateur. it isn't a derogetory(sp?) term, it just ,means you don't do it for money

Posted by kosmostar on May-06-2004 15:23:

but amateur producers who've recently started producing and so on could avoid to post their track there if name'll be like "pro" but this forum is all for their needs (amateur producers) and they have'nt to be afraid
so may be just combine the names?
like "amateur and professional music producers promotion"
it would be better to my mind
sorry for my english

i think the word "AMATEUR" should definitely be removed from the title of this forum...

Too much promotion, too few good reviews.

I think it should be "Review And Get Your Music Reviewed Section".

Posted by Digital Rain on May-18-2004 03:41:

It definitely should be removed from both : Amateur DJs Promotion and Amateur Music Producers Promotion.

surely "music producers forum" would have the same effect?

Posted by kosmostar on May-21-2004 12:25:

haha, true, I'vent noticed it myself
I think "music producers promotion" is better than "music producers forum" because we already have "Production Studio" forum here

Posted by Digital Rain on May-21-2004 19:28:

Just a thought...
If you don't want to remove it why don't you change it to: Amateur & Professional DJs Promotion and Amateur and Professional Music Producers Promotion.

Posted by Torley Wong on May-21-2004 19:36:

I think a possible problem is that it becomes long and unwieldy. Since "Professional & Amateur" is kind of redundant -- I mean, who else is there, really?

I like the idea of simplifying it.
