I vote for the nachos on this one.
Vocal TRANCE can get a lil too cheesy at times and become too much like Hi-Nrg EuroDance. But I love it on certain PROG tunes. As the Rush Comes (armin universal mix) is quality, but can be made into cheese real easily. I do like a lil bit of cheese, but ya need some meat too!

the 2003 remake of Insight - Prophecy on Sunkissed records, for example, I think is great with vocals. Also Duran & Aytek - Come off of Method.

Seems I'm alone in liking tracks like that, but that's fine with me!

Some tracks are better off without the vocals, but I do think that some tracks are also shit withOUT the vocals

It really depends on the individual track for me.

Nachos...

IT could go either way, 'cuz there are vocals track that are awesome and some that completely suck.

Death to cheese, I say.

i prefer female vocals, only male vocal song i like is
krystal - burning flame
amoebassasin - piledriver (grayed out)

it sucks big time

imma gonna vote for teh nachos cuz some vocals are good and some just plain suck. and i do like nachos! i've been meaning to get some now for a few days already, but have always forgotten it in the end!

Posted by robin on May-05-2004 14:06:

i have no problem with them, as long as they fit the song and are not used to cover up bad producing..

Posted by Turbonium on May-07-2004 02:27:

As long as it's not cheese type vocals like DJ Sammy type stuff.

I absolutely love vocals

There is still nothing that can touch the human voice, especially a female voice with loads of reverb and that breath thing, to relay that big emotional kick ... that feeling of sheer desire or longing or whatever it is you call it, I'm sure all you true-school T.A.'s know what I mean

Like the first ever time I heard 'Silence' ... when you're just standing in the middle of a dance floor feeling like you wanna cry, and huge waves of shivers running up and down your spine, and there is nothing that matters in the entire world except you and that song ... man there is no feeling better than that

Yes sure there are crap vocals as well ... and yes a trance set with nothing but vocals in it would suck, but spinning trance is about tinkering with people's emotions, you just can't leave the vocals out or it's like making a great cake with no icing you know what I'm saying

Basically class acts like Sarah Mclachlan and Justine Suissa totally own me anyway

I like non-vocals and vocals (Prefer female voice)

Posted by CityKitty on May-12-2004 16:24:

I like trance vocals a lot, but some songs sound better without them. It depends. And then there are songs that make you wonder why the hell someone agreed to make them in the first place;

use of computerized vocals:

"push me, and then just touch me, so I can get my satisfaction..."

you almost have to laugh cause it sounds so bad.

Posted by CityKitty on May-12-2004 16:25:

and some girls they get to sing are just plain awful. No talent whatsoever

Posted by dchaves on May-12-2004 21:50:

There are some vocals that are real shit but there are some non vocals that are real shit too, so it depends on the song (and on the listener too )

I like vocal as much as non vocals, but viewing the options of the poll I vote for the vocals (coz I don't hate them and I'm not in the mood for nachos )

Generally, I don't like vocals. The way I see it is it's like an emotional page in a book: without vocals, you have to read between the lines to pick up what the character is feeling, and if it's well written then that's fairly obvious. It would say, for example, "After hanging up with Brenda, Tod threw the telephone accross the room." But with vocals, it's spelled out for you, like you're a dummy: "After hanging up with Brenda, Tod was very angry, so he threw the telephone accross the room to take out his anger."

Now, I'm not saying all vocals are bad. Well placed, they can be very effective. But in general they are overdone and take away the subtlety of the music. And yes, nachos do sound pretty good right about now.

Gimme my nachos, biotchh!!

But on serious note. Vocals are good as long as they are implemented right and should not exceed 40% of the whole track. I especially hate when vocals come out of nowhere to fill in for the melody. Good example of vocal implementation is Love Comes Again (it is the only track with male vocals that I like). Well, it could be just my opinion. It may well depend on the listener.

got ma nachos btw! and they were fucking tasty! i think i'll have to get some more soon to go along with this nice vocal and non-vocal trance that they play here in my house all the time!

VOCALS ALL THE WAY. ESPECIALLY FEMALE VOCALS. NOTICE HOW THE WOMEN THAT SING IN TRANCE TRACKS ARE ALWAYS NEARLY AMAZING.

ROCK AND WELL AS GETTIN TRANCED OOT YER HEID!

vocals - female

Posted by Funky^Junkie on Jun-23-2004 18:10:

well, for the moment.nachos.i think there are some songs in which the vocals are an important part and without them, the track wouldn't be the same, wouldn't have that u know what, like, let's say burned with desire.try to imagine this track without justine suissa. i like very much delerium-innocente.i find that voice absoulutely amazing.and the one from andain-summer calling...but there are some tunes that sound great without any vocals and if a voice would be added,it would ruin it.
but there r some tunes that even with vocals,r absolutely horrible, like all bennassi songs.i totally agree with u on that,CityKitty

What do You want from the vocal trance!?!?! In my opinion most of the tracks with vocals qre totally great!! I like them very much, some of them more than the no vocal ones...

Posted by R.j. on Jul-05-2004 10:55:
