I LOVE that track by Planet BEN called "trippy future garden" (21.53mn) , very deep psytrance

PS ...and if you can find "winter dreams" by "Phillipe De Canck", listen to it, this is a new age masterpiece, about 1 hour of pleasure...incredible track, so relaxing...

Tubular Bells (the original version) ain't trance per se but it certainly laid some of the groundwork. The atmospheric vibes, the instrumentation, syncopation of rhythm and the way various instruments are used to hypnotic effect with ostinatos and arpeggios solidifies that... not to mention a big plastering of catchy hooks and riffs (although none featuring a fat super-detuned double saw)

Not exactly trance, but the longest track I have is "Brian Eno - Thursday Afternoon". It is exactly 61 minutes long! And yes, it's one single composition.

I'm not really keen on tracks that are more than 10:00 unless they're something a bit special, its hard to keep you interested for that long! lol

between 7:00 - 9:00 is a good length I think

Yeah, if you look at a lot of ambient/new music that preceeded and was influential to trance... a lot of those pieces are really long and involving (and evolving!). Like Mike Oldfield has been named, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis (some of his anyway -- he's good at the radio-play truncation too), soforth and soforth... if a track's going to be that long for me, personally, i want to hear lots of dynamics and changes though.
