They can. New releases that are released are talked about both places. I think cd reviews section is more for hype though.

I think you'll find it's for releases, not hype. Hence the name - "New Releases Discussion".

Well no wonder that forum has threads started by mp3 elitist cocks if the mods are saying that is acceptable. Have a read of the forum description; the forum is for reviews of released tracks, not the hyping of tracks to be released in the upcoming year.

But they are released on promo CDr or promo vinyl before anyone has them on MP3.

if someone has heard a track on ASOT, it's perfectly valid to post a review of it.

to post a review of an mp3 they have downloaded of it is not

You want to discuss the song, whatever, but I'm especially tired of people posting "the sound quality of this rip us shit". Once this crap is taken care of maybe we can look into an ASOT forum, but for the time being, there are far more important problems on TA to be dealt with

No offense to you mikey or anybody else but..

There really isn't a way to know if there talking about mp3's are not w/ out mailing a digi cam to every person that posts to proove so.

It states in the rules that Swamper did
"Its purpose is to discuss new vinyl or CD releases - not to comment on 'bad rips' or whatever.

Also, when commenting on a track or a CD type out the details properly (Artist/Track Name/CD Title/etc.).

Copying & Pasting the directory name of something on your hard drive isn't exactly easy to read.

If people don't follow rules (which in cases happends) thier thread is taken care of & etc. Unfortunatly mp3's are out there and hopefully the people who do posts go out and at least purchase the music / support the artists.

Make a rule saying people must post their comments about promos or mp3's, that have not yet been RELEASED, in the music discussion forum. The new release forum just gets cluttered with threads abouts tracks that are months away from an actually release. Myself and many others do not have time to roam around that forum trying to find tracks that have actually been released in amongst all the threads about non released tunes.

I don't think this would work because of duplicate threads. There would be one thread for hype and one for the release for each tune in the same forum. It's obvious they need to be seperated...
