Shy brothers, twisted ruined the scene years ago with this shit.
Azim, tazix and the fat brothers all have Zero talent and keep the other Talented people in this town down as much as possible just to save face. Its truly sad that hurting individuals probably like you are supporting them.
I hope No person goes to this show and it ends their productions for good.

At Insomnia, during the time I spent listening to their set, they were both spending more time yelling and making stupid gestures at the crowd than trying to play a decent set. All their tracks SUCKED...and I was already furious at them for giving Vlad so little stage time (he still managed to play the best set of the night). They're right up there with Azim and Tazix as the worst DJs in BC...

I agree... their set at insomnia was crap. I barely stayed in the trance room durring there set for more then 5 minutes, mostly passing by between the house and breaks rooms as I couldn't stand their sound.

the only track i remember from their insomnia set was Rank 1 - Symsonic (Dumonde Remix)...

Ill go for BK's set, My good buddy loves him so I am ganna make the trip with him. But ya 40buxs for it? expesive.....very expensive.

I'm not from Vancouver but I really wanted to check this party out.
I heard the Plaza is a pretty cool venue and since its the last party there, I wanted to check it.

I dont know the story behind everyones hatred for Azim and Co. but if anyone has the time, could they fill me in?

From what I gather, the promoters are shady.... Azim and Co. suck at spinning... and thats about it.

If its gonna be a shady and crappy party than I dont want to waste my time AND money travelling to Vancouver for this party.

Tayfoon, I'm sure Mike is a nice guy...I wasn't commenting on his personality, just his DJing, which sucks. Seriously, the Shy Brothers need to get the hell off the decks and give it up for more talented people.

Godsound...the explanation you seek is complicated. The point is: don't waste your time and money on this party. It's a ripoff, and it's going to suck.

If you want to check out the Plaza and experience a Vancouver rave, you'd be better off coming to Twisted on April 10th. At least that way you'll be getting better music for your money (Armin and Above & Beyond).

I would not go to this either. Even though I'm heading down to Seattle on the same weekend to see PVD, if I was not, I would still ditch this one. I've seen Dumonde at system soundbar and they were alright. But this party is not worth more than $25, that's for sure

i concur. only go to a plaza party if it's a preformer you really wanna see and you are willing to pay crazy prices to see them, and are willing to accept that it is a less then 50/50 chance that it'll be on a good quality and well balanced sound system. my $45 for marco v and stanton warriors was well worth it... but the sound systems sucked ass.

plaza is a beautiful venue... but the promoters are shady always saying they're gonna put more in to it then they really do (again insomnia being an example... i was expecting way more from them espicaly after seeing this promoters last 2 party setups and the prior plaza party KISS 2 setup) and always over charging tickets (and twisted is well knowen for over selling parties as well). last tip, never go for the crowd\vibe. not saying you won't find nice people in the crowd, cause you will... but first time at a plaza it's kinda shocking the crowd that shows up (and i've been to events with 10,000 in seattle), and I'd suggest always go with atleast 1 person you know, if not a small group of friends.

either way, i hope you can enjoy your self if you do decide to come down for a plaza party before it closes... and i'd go with shadow's suggestion and go to twisted (even though this late you'll pay out the ass for a ticket).

i say we have the ta party same weekend hahaha.

We were only able to get Bk and Dumonde due to the time frame. Solid Corp and Twisted at first were not informed who had the last plaza date until late March and all the big artists around the world have been booked already. We're kinda fortunate that we're able to even pull BK / Dumonde for this show. I hope you TA's understand that you can't just pull a huge artist out w/o booking at least 6-12 months in advance. Plaza wasn't even announced that it was going to be a casino till like January 2004. So we hope you understand that its out of our control on the time factor. Secondly, the plaza of nations is charging more $ for the last date b/c they had to remove a convention that was scheduled on 4/24.

If you peeps have anymore concerns or questions which are related to the party, feel free to voice your opinions/concerns and we will try our best to answer them.

As for the Insomnia - the production itself spent as much money as last year's Fusion Dreams. The mainstage had its sound problem because someone had jumped over the fenced and knocked one of the bins and messed up the wiring. This led to the distortion of the sound in the main room. Masterplan's staff looked lost. *sigh* Anyways, if we had a choice we would not used them but they have a contract w/plaza of nations to do all the lights/sound of the venue. I think the sound quality of the sets prior to Marco V's set was alright. Well, thats my 2 cents for insomnia.

Well, 3 pages later and I've read every thread posted, and to tell you the truth, i don't even want to go to this party anymore Unfortunately, it's Dumonde, and I'll do anything to see and support these guys... and not the promoters or their so called Big Name Local DJ's

The Plaza has to fucking go. I'm glad there will be no more parties there! Get a new venue... I don't want to hear this scapegoat bullshit about the Plaza asking for more $$$ so tix pprices must increase.

I think it's time to start boycotting Solid-Corp. They only care about the cash they bring in, and not the party they throw.... regardless what they may tell you.

That's more or less my problem with the way the trance scene in Vancouver has been run since I've been spinning. Frankly, there is no opportunity for new DJs here because most trance promoters only book their friends. If it wasn't for Danny getting us the hookup at Viva, me Kerry and Danny would still be basement DJs too with maybe the odd gig once a year. It's for that exact reason we always book irregulars at Viva whenever they make an effort to get booked (and play the right style, of course).

its not all about the big name DJs. there are plenty of smaller DJs out there who are as good or even better who are much easier to book. it doesnt matter who twisted brings, the hype their create will always draw crowds

i agree with the above two posts about twisted and shy brothers having the same locals play all their parties with very little variety. if they want to think of themselves as true promoters of trance/dance/whatever in the city, they should maybe put more effort into their events and not organize overpriced half assed shows.

and the part about the plaza charging more for this event and this being the cause of $50 tickets doesnt make any sense, ALL plaza parties have been $50,in the last couple of years that i've been paying attention to them

...

lets all get along and focus on the party - the lineup's been confirmed and there's nothing we can do now.
