I am sure we could do it. If everybody brought at least 2 people there should be plenty. PM me with some details I am getting curious.

Posted by DjCommisad on Apr-07-2004 00:09:

I'm sure there's a lot of support. I've already told you, you can pass around flyers if you really have to or if you set things up far enough in advance, I'm sure you can get support from people like me and (maybe Angelo?) to help promote it. There's lots of DJs who can spin, (that's why Adam here wants demos so he can pick appropriately hehe). But we can't really get people to show up unless there's a general date area or venue. It's like, hey, wanna come to a party? Sure, when? I have no idea, but hey, you know, when it happens you can come.

I realize the problems with putting money or effort into arranging things and no one coming, but you also have to balance it off with waiting too long and giving no notice in advance either. A lot of the main parties are promoted monthes in advance, and by no means will this be a huge get together but more than day of notice would be nice

Also, what size are we looking at here? I know you've tossed the idea around in your head Adam if this is TAs (and friends of) only party, or a TA HOSTED party. Decided yet?

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-07-2004 00:37:

This will be a TA hosted party. If I'm trying to get as many people as possible to come (with promotions and all), I wouldn't make any sense for me to make it a TA-and-friends-only

Okay, you folks asked for details, so here are some details.

Venue-wise, I'm trying to get a club for free. I have next to no money here (I'm sure many of you will understand) and there is no way I could afford to book a club on a good night. Assuming I can guarantee a certain number of people (35+), I'm told that there's a fair chance of getting Viva or Lotus perhaps on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

I'm hoping to draw out some people besides TAs, so I'm trying to put together a lineup of maybe 5 or 6 DJs, with unknowns from TA as openers and other, more established and well-known TAs as 'headliners'. I've got some names in mind and the ones I've spoken to seem to be in favour (NO Azim and Tazix hehe). Anybody is welcome to send me demos, but competition will be stiff. I'm looking for progressive and trance DJs to divide up into half-hour or hour slots. Doing some basic promotion is also a good idea (it's fairly cheap to have 500 flyers printed), but I'm still not sure how many non-TAs would drag themselves out on an off-night to hear locals spin =P

As for a date, there's none set yet. I'm thinking last week of April or first week of May (before May 7th, after April 21st). That's as much certainty as I can give you right now.

If you have any questions or suggestions, you can PM me or find me on MSN: [email protected]

good luck to you guys, if you pull it off, myself and the evolve/photonic crew will come down if we can. i suggest once u have things set up advertising on fnk.ca as well. people there like trance too.

also if any of you want to go to a pre-twisted trance arty there will eb one in burnaby friday put on by evolve. not an advertised rave, just a 'lets throw a party before we have to return the generator from last weekend' party. www.fnk.ca people. it willbe in the events soon.

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-07-2004 05:27:

Thank you for your support AquaYak...if you think you might have any DJs over there at Evolve who'd be wanting to play a TA Invasion, I'd be happy to hear them

Count me in Adam!!....I can help u promote and spin if u like....but anything to help out!!...even if we need a venue, I can try to swing somehting..

Posted by Seany_G on Apr-10-2004 21:43:

So whats happenin with this?

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-10-2004 23:04:

I'd like to get Viva for this, but I'll have to be able to guarantee 30+ people. I suppose if everybody brought a few friends and we promo'd on FNK it might work out...

Posted by DjCommisad on Apr-11-2004 00:59:

we can get 30+ people. just advertise. like i said you might even be able to drop flyers (with permission of course) the friday before at viva (if the event is at viva). promote it here and on fnk if you have to. get people to bring friends.

what's the cover going to be?

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-11-2004 01:20:

$7 a head should be enough (so that I can give the DJs a little extra )

so most of the go-go dancers are for yourself eh?

Posted by overdose006 on Apr-11-2004 07:37:

count me in for this one
if it happens after the 22nd of april i can prob bring atleast 3 or 4 other ppl along
i dont think we will have a problem with the 30-35 ppl requirement

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-11-2004 14:15:

Ahhhh-kay...

The management of Viva is considering it, and I will know for sure next week.

As of now, the date and place are (tentatively): Sunday, May 2nd at Club Viva in Richmond.

DJs...

Headlining DJs are all set: Vlado, Mirka Cerny and Kerry Wilks Still need opening DJs though...if you spin upbeat proggy type stuff, send me a demo (PM me for FTP details.)

Adam, personally I think that 3 dj's is enuff for the night...remember u are going to do this on a Sunday, and if my memory is correct, VIVA should close by 12 or 1 at the max...you would need more dj's only if you plan on starting around 6 (which for some reason I highly doubt).....and if only giving a DJ like 20-30min sets would be pretty pointless, cuz' that's like 3-4 songs....I figure on a minimum, a DJ should atleast spin 10 songs for a decent set.

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Apr-12-2004 05:04:

You make a good point. I won't be doing any half hour slots, you're right that it's too short a time to put out a complete set. Depending on the hours I get, I might be able to give out one or two more hour slots though...we'll see.
