The chance of popping a tire by penetration at high speeds is smaller than at lower speeds. If your tire does blow at very high speeds, much control will not be lost because at such high speeds, your car no longer rides on the air of the tiers, but on the torque expansion of the tires. So if your tire is empty it will expand to give you near full control, but only at high speeds.

Now if your tire rips, it will shread, and you'll be driving on your rim. That is dangerous.

I'm all for high speed capers, but people the streets are to be shared safely with everyone else on them (except for minivans which need to be slagged en masse). If you want to go take your 500hp RX-7 out at 310kph keep it on the track... And yay I just got my Mini Cooper S up to 260kph (At mosport). I love that little demon on wheels.

But ummm, ya if you're hitting your limiter and you don't know you have one you shouldn't be driving.

those are the same people that probably think their car's top speed is whatever their speedo goes up to on the dash, LOL...

Isn't the top speed usually higher?

Maybe it's different for different cars, but my dash only goes up to 180 and I KNOW it can pick up more speed than that (if the limiter were to be taken out).

I don't race, though... why would I even try in a Corolla, lol

Yes, because we all know that knowing how fuel cutoff chips work is what REALLY makes a good driver!
