on topic: we are up to our armpits in "wars". This word has been so abused of late it has little meaning left. What's next, "War on Education"? |
Hmm... why not just a war on Syria like the Neocons wanted? It will strengthen the real meaning of the word "War" too.. That should be reason enough
As for religious fundies and religion in general.
I see it this way religion = philosophy = politics.
In essense they are all view points, they are all moralities, and they can all either be abused to absurdity or can achieve great things.
Having no religion is just as much a religion as any other religion. I think philosophy, religion, and politics will always be inseperable because when you come down to it they are all the same - our opinion.
Its the "better than thou" attitude that scares me. The person that thinks his opinion is more correct than any other scares me. But I guess I'm a hypocrite also in this regard because I don't believe in moral realitivism.
Hmm I better find away to work this out.. don't wanna be labeled a hypocrite now

My god, you aren't serious are you?
Obviously you know what fundamentalist Christianity is, because you yourself are a fundamentalist Christian. It seems to me that you don't really know what humanism is though, so reading the following summary might help: What is secular humanism?. Humanism is everything Christian fundamentalism isn't.

Dude,I know what humanism is. I was asking if Dave knew. I'm studying socialism, humanism, communism, and all that lovely stuff in history right now.

Oh,So you are saying you are Anti-Christian?
The US Supreme court declared humanism a religion. So if you want to make humanism official by banning all other religions, then you are violating the establishment clause of the US constitution yourself.

Well, Asscroft isn't alone. He'll be happy to know he's got plenty of friends in the terrorist community:

Not this idiotic argument again. Go to the dictionary. Look up religion. Then contrast it with the key precepts and beliefs of secular humanism.
Further to that, the supreme court did not declare humanism to be a religion. http://www.secularhumanism.org/libr...ry_18_1.01.html deals with this particular lie (amongst others).
Define anti-Christian. I don't like Christianity because I believe it to be objectively false, and I think it advocates discrimination and intolerance. If that makes me an anti-Christian, so be it. And whoever said that they wanted to ban religion? What on earth are you on about?
