Depeche Mode is the Best Electronic Group EVER. all their album AFTER Vincent Clarke's departure were fantastik..

Construction Time Again
Some Great Rewards
People Are People
Catching Up With Depeche Mode
Black Celebration
Music For The Masses
101 LIVE
Violator
Songs OF Faith & Devotion
Songs Of Faith & Devotion LIVE
Ultra
Exciter

DM has been CONSISTANTLY putting out quality albums for over 20years... they formed in like 81 or so and the first album[Speak & Spell] came out in 82 i think.. there are definitely others like New Order, Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys etc.. but none can match the continuous quality, innovation and consistancy of Depeche Mode.. truley ahead of our time and not to mention influence the fuck out of trance music.. listen to their melodies, rhythem, and structure.. so awesome.. Dave Gahan's voice + Martin Gore's lyrics and composing are a perfect formula..

Did any one see them last play at MSG for their Exciter Tour?

That was my first concert at MSG ever and boy did they play some good old tunes!

BTW I have some old Laserdiscs of them floating around the house.

,,ein" is the German word for "a." But there are masculine, feminine, and neuter versions of it. In the nominative case, there is:

ein - der (masculine)
eine - die (feminine)
ein - das (neuter)

ein Volk works, cause Volk is neuter ,,das Volk"

die Musik (music) is feminine, and this is where you need ,,eine Musik" ... like if you wanted to say, "a cat" you'd say ,,eine Katze" because die Katze is feminine

actually for Berliner... in German you don't need to say ,,ein" (a). For instance, if I was saying I am a teacher, I would say, "Ich bin Lehrer." Loosely in English, I am teacher, without the "a." This is natural for German. To say I am American, I'd say, Ich bin Amerikaner," not "Ich bin ein Amerikaner."

So I think you want to say simply ,,Berliner" - pvd is a native berlin dude

DJ is masculine, so it is ein DJ

and for ,,des Jahres" I need to clarify this with some native German speakers. ,,des Jahres" is the high german way we are taught in America, but I have heard varying ways of this. The general rule is if the word is only one syllable, to ad the ,,es" on the end or if the word ends in an "s", and if it is two syllables, to only ad the ,,s"

(ie) Das Fenster des Hauses -- it Haus ends in "s" so add the ,,es" the window of the house

Die Farbe des Autos -- Auto is two syllables and doesn't need the ,,es," just ,,s"

sorry, I don't have that picture... if any native speaking Germans could give this a look over, that'd be coo

I'm studying German in College to be a High School German teacher. I'm not trying to diss your sig., I just thought you might want it to say exactly what you're tyring to say

I only recently got into Depeche's original music, but i have been listening to their remixes tunes for a while. Violator just arrived in the mail a few weeks ago

I would have to list as my favorites; Halo, Only When I Lose Myself, In YOur ROom, Sweetest Perfection. I like their darker, more haunting works.

I will have to buy more of their albums, it is really quite conincidental that i just got into them and this thread just got posted! I already own Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion, any suggestions for what i should get next?

By the way, did anyone else notice how similar some of DM's stuff is to early Nine Inch Nails, especially Pretty Hate MAchine? DM must have been a huge influence for Trent Reznor!

Depeche Mode are awesome. I listened to them all the time in the 90's. I love most if not all of their work. Anyone who likes G&D should like DM, as they are a huge influence on their work.
I saw Sander Kleinenberg last Saturday and he played a remix of Depeche Mode - No Good.

random question since I wasn't of age back in those days...

Why do people consider Depeche Mode or New Order (New Wave/Retro) homosexual music?

I mean I know most of it is emotional and deep tracks...but I still don't get it?

I know someone is always going to hate something, not everyone can like the samething, just like how EDM is now days, but that's because mainstream music is over taking people's emotions.

Wasn't New Wave/Retro the shit back in the days?

because alot of new wave artists WERE in fact gay... ie. Franky Goes To Hollywood, Dead or Alive, Alison Moyette from Yaz, Andy Bell from Erasure etc.. its easy for a straight new wave band to get stereotyped like DM.

love depeche mode... the cure,OMD,petshop boys,electronica... are other "new wave" groups i enjoy... they def. did contribute to the future of electronic music.

cool man, glad I could help. Back to Depeche Mode, yeah they are most excellent and definitely helped me get through high school. I'd love to see a new album from them in the near future, but who knows. If you guys like Portishead, they are supposedly back in the studio working on new material with know actual release date for an album known.

Posted by JulieFirefly on Apr-14-2004 01:49:

Depeche mode definitely helped me with electronic music. I like the "violator" album best, and this has to be the best introduction to the mode for anyone who has managed to not hear their stuff before (how could that be!).

Aren't they like...50 by now? Which isn't that old, but sometimes things are better left how they were.

sweet i was just looking for a post like this..

depeche mode is awesum

I went to a club in Anchorage and heard my first techno song (or so I thought) in 1999. it was Sarina Paris.

Turns out that when I was lil, my sis jammed to the first remix's/early techno songs that set the foundation for todays Techno songs. I only remeber a few songs from back in the day, not the names or artists, except Venga Boys and Dj Bass.

So I start to listen to sarina paris, then bought her cd at Sam Goody, then went on WinMX and put in "Techno" and viola...192837493287529387523954 songs in the "techno" genre.

started listening to songs...then got to the point where I only liked certain Djs and Style. Found out it was Trance that got me.
Then it was Vocal Trance.

Then A homegirl of mine showed me a song that was remixed that I thought was fudgin awesome. It was a Breakbeat remix with a Vocal Trance song. Well, I think it was (its called Sunrise, found at http://www.djsupert.com), anyways, he had remixs of some vocal trance songs and he got me hooked on Vocal Breakbeat remixs/Original vocal breaks.

Now I drive down the road jammin to vocal trance/breaks.

And inspired by all the Djs at HYF.com I've started to get into mixing my own songs. hence te randomly picked name Dj Disleksik<---will change
