sorry I forgot the j operator.
this is true:
yt = 1/R - j1/xc
z = 1/yt
z = 1/(1/R -j1/Xc)
z= R - jXc

Alright so last week I went and talked with my professor. He seemed open to the idea that he could be wrong, so he wrote down a note to himself to research it later and to "consult some of his CIS people". Sounded fine to me. And we actually had a great discussion afterwards--not directly related but about the curriculum in general.
So Friday morning I get an e-mail saying to check the textbook at the bottom of page 263. Apparently the textbook is wrong as well. E-mail attachments do not go through FTP!!
How the hell would people still receive file attachments when half of the hosts on the internet block or shut off FTP?! Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket with a side of fries. This man just needs to get off his ass and do some simple research...I thought he was going to actually research it and not look up a page number in the book where he found that statement.
Anywho, I'll be sending him back all the proof he needs. And getting my favorite CS professor (the best one in the department) to back me up.
Christ, I hate lazy professors.
