First of all his remix of Clocks is the best I have ever heard. Second of all he dips into every genre from trance to techno, house, and tribal, etc. Third of all he plays all over the world and is even going to come to Minneapolis, MN (not exactly a culture area for that sort of thing). Before hearing any of his stuff I was not even a fan of techno and he made me into one simply because he is an amazing producer and DJ. Discuss! and make arguments for your opinion, don't just say "Pfft, No!" |
damn man william is lagging my scrolling thingie-ma-bobby in IE.
Tranc3's avatar +1
ok, so his mixing is not best, his production is not best, his selection is not best, his tours aren't best, blah blah blah isn't best.
But when you put all those things together they make him the best DJ in the world.
Some of people you guys mentioned excell at one thing or another but i'm saying when you factor in everything that a DJ in about I think Mauro Picotto excels at balancing all those things and being good at every one of them, that is why he is MINE #1 in the world.
Lizard is godly, but Picotto isn't the best in the world, in my opinion. I'd say that the best in the world right now is Armin van Buuren, at least as far as superstar DJs go. The next big thing is DEFINITELY Luke Chable, though.
ummm no... we all know its Paul Oakenfold
j/k
but seriously no he isnt the best dj in the world not even close my friend
Mauro... Quite a wicked DJ and producer... Love Alchemist and was quite friendly when I saw him live. He attacks and doesn't withdraw.

He's pretty good, you gotta give him that much. As in track selection-wise, and he knows how to get the crowd going. seeing him play live always means a good time for me.
As a techno dj though, he lacks the technical ability... just look at dave clarke, adam beyer, chris liebing, umek, ben sims (who can scratch with his elbow) jeff mills and all the other techno titans, and then you'll find mauro doesnt stand up very well next to them.
however i still like his music because it has its unique sound.
he definitly keeps me interested in techno
def. not the most skilled dj...
clarke owns him easly.
also varela/cox/umek + many names

Well since u brought up the topic of TECHNICAL..i think JAMES ZABIELA is right on top... he really is technical... not that i dont like picotto but i think JZ is most technically equipped guy..
my opinion..

no one are the best

zabiela, danny tenaglia, digweed, Dave Clarke is certainly interesting to watch
and just for some reason i die when i see Sander K on the decks
he is not the best dj in the world.
he is however probably one of the most unique and original. techincally he is not always amazing (although sometimes he can be, be it by fluke or drugs) but he has definitly played the cleverest sets i've ever heard. when he played @ storm he played the most original set i've seen..
production wise, gandalf!

Lol, Mauro is certainly one of the entertainers, his Timewarp set is really good only Adam Beyer's set is better than Mauro's IMO. Production wise Mauro's on fire, can't wait for the album.
Never seen him live (will be doin soon at GK hopefully tho!) but have always wanted to, really enjoy his productions, probably one of the main reasons i started to listen to techno. Baguette is jus amazin, along with bangkok and hong kong, plus his remix of clocks and pretty much the whole alchemist EP
Picotto is my second favourite techno DJ. His producing skills are fucking massive and I love his new bangin techno style, Taotek and New Time New Place are getting heavy abuse at my hands
Although credit for getting me into techno goes to the one and only DJ Preach
(Who's also a sick producer by the way.)
Picotto Rawks!! I'm glad to hear someone thinks he's the best dj
in the world,, your on the right track.. I don't personally think
he's the Best, but he has made some classics that i will never forget.
A friend of mine gave me his album "The Album" when i first started
listening to Techno. It's probably one of my favorite albums ever.
"Pulsar" made him my favorite dj in 2001. Also "Proximus" was great.
"The Album" should be in everyone's cd case. I saw him last year in chicago for the NYE 2004 party, it was one of the best parties i have ever been to.. His live set at Trance Energy (i forget what year) was the best, "Its like this, It's Like That"
