hair that short doesn't usually look very good when it's matted down
is it possible to get the clumps of hair to flip out instead of just straight down? (e.g. sorta like the back of bjork's hair in that pic)

yes, it should be possible to do that with a round brush and a blowdryer while the hair is still wet, or you can use a small barreled curling iron and flip them out. I can't acheive bjork's do because my hair isn't that long... but your right, short flat hair isn't too awesome unless you have the proper cut for it assuming that the shape of your face is right for the cut..

One of the drawbacks of getting a haircut and telling us is that we need constant updates of what you look like. I am thinking maybe 1/2 hour intervals for the first few days....then hourly intervals the next few....
