Why do I keep hearing a lot better tracks every day made by amateurs than the drivel that gets released then?

It's obvious most labels just want to sign the most easily accessible drivel to get a quick buck... 18 months later they go bankrupt and blame the mp3s for it. Yet they don't seem to realise all the stuff they release get old after 2 months whereas true top tunes last for years.

so true nik, armin knows that he can push anything and the lame ASOT whores will go buy anything, why do you see Mike and L-Vee there all the time. They have obviously lost the fucking plot and rather just push marginal CRAP to people. Making money is great but when you just get into pushing anything for a quick buck with no long term view on anything, you really have lost the plot. Mike, L-Vee and Armin rather push halfass crap to the masses rather than the old style quality over quantity.

Another topic to flame on one of the most valuable persons in the trancescene. What would the trancecommunity look like without the influence of Armin, PvD, Ferry or Tiesto?

yea u got a point there..i sometimes wonder why they keep stickin to some tracks time n time again while they have a huge variety to go through..

I would say very little fluff. It was insane. He had the whole crowd going the whole time. When he stopped at 4:30am (he started a little after 11pm), the room was still packed and was yelling out that they wanted more...but I guess Armin wasn't up to it (believe he had a cold and was also pretty tired as he flew across the country from Atlanta to play).

And I don't recall him playing Love Comes Again the whole night.

Armin was quality through about 2002, and made perhaps some of the best work in the scene around 2001. Then there was that embarassing remix of Seven Cities. Soon after, ASoT went down the tubes with fluff Dutch trance (and later, McProg). His record label of the same name only sealed the doom.

Unfortunate, really. Paul's roadbumps aren't anywhere as bad as the clean nosedive Armin decided to take.

On the other hand I do enjoy hearing his trance sets on ASOT, but it would be nice to hear stuff like the above occasionally. Not all the time, just every now and then.

One of my fav DJ's from the past has now become one that I despise the most. I agree DJ's have to move forward with the times, but imo he has taken a turn for the worse. Such a shame. I also wish he'd cut the Markus Schulz / G&D wannabe shit. I'm going to see Harry Lemon on Friday at gods, and Armin happens to be playing too. Like all sets I go to, I will keep an open mind before hand, but I doubt i'll be blown away by him. Last set I enjoyed from Armin was in 2002. Refer to sig.

Did all the little slags converge at the front of the booth that follow him around like a bunch of gimps? That's what half of his crowd seems to be these days.

I think armin's doing a good job with asot.

Since only the new tunes are meant to be played,there may sometimes be songs tht can tire out after a few listens...but overall I do think the show is great and look to it for coming up with the odd amazing tune.Signum - Come around again is one such vocal trancer I recently heard on asot and liked loads..which is wierd since I dont like vocal tunage much.

His sound has changed considerably in the last few years,but sadly so has the sound of trance...its evolving continously and its sure to leave some ppl screaming and out in the cold.

surely as a so called pioneer, playing what ever direction a genre is going isnt what you should be doing.. and dont just take this answer from a self proclaimed armin hater, but surely providing a listening audience with what you think they should be hearing as trance listeners because its trance, as opposed to playing [by using your initiative and own knowledge] what you want to play as you know it is exciting and revolutionary, makes you no better than the likes of dave pearce.

maybe this comment is a little on the extreme side, but you would think a guy with armins major success over substantial years would at least know the difference between opening a new can of worms as opposed to scraping the bottom of a barrel.

i will completely eat my [and others] words right now and say the tiesto has recieved massive stick from ppl [and myself] for going it alone finding a new niche... struggling at first, bombarded with criticism, but hes doing good now, hell, ill even go as far as to say id even go see him live again. but id say for anything that armin has done wether it be sets or tracks, theyre just a chore to listen to.

and by your last comment, i think of this as quite a parody, ofcourse your gonna try and cover your tracks as we know your relationship with the accuse'd. might be a tough pill to swallow, but ppl that have got into trance in the last year might still think armins the man. but when i look at ferry and tijs doing theyre thing and doing well at it, and then see armin doing the same old but to a standard not even half of what he is capable of, one must ask questions

does anyone think its about bumming his own label to the max? a large proportion of the asot tracks end up on armada or one of the sub labels... discuss.. theres lots of perspectives on this i know.
