castlevania for nes. could never beat that damned thing... maybe because i was like, 5 or something
it actually took me a while to complete majora's mask 100%, casue some of those games were tough. compared to ocarina of time it was much harder to get 100%.

todays games arent nearly as difficult as nes games were, just because nes games couldnt be long and there was no save option. so to make up for length they had to add difficulty to allow you to play the game for longer
nes: ninja gaiden (holy crap)
snes: ghouls and goblins
did anybody find hard the weird levels in super mario world? (gnarly, tubular, funky...etc)

| Ah, Rainbow Road was easy once you'd mastered the 'Jump-Off-The-Track-Fly-For-Half-A-Year-And-Land-Back-On-The-Track' trick. |

if you're looking for a fairly new game that will challenge you. play ninja gaiden for the xbox on very hard and get back to me when you've finished it

Sinistron on the Turbo Grafx 16. Holy shit. One of the only games I never was able to beat. Years later however, I beat it using an emulator with the help of save states.
Might and Magic II: Gates to Another World.
Never ever finished it. Time travel would just screw me over. I bet its one of the CRPGs back in the day that was like so huge you needed to buy the hint book in order to play. You can cheat and beat it, but its not the same.

yeah, but still. the games themselves are hard. think about how many times you heard that death sound in the game. they definitely werent easy
oh god. the infernal "peeoo weeoo weeoo weeoo weeoo" sound of death. cant forget that one
hhmmmmmmm.....the 1st resident evil
hehe, anybody remember RAIDEN, the shoot-em-up vertical arcade game? Damn now thats a hard game, argh, spent so much money on those machines - never got to complete it. I think the furthest I'd ever got was the 4th or 5th stage LOL
Twin-Bee on the original Nintendo was awesome though very hard too!

ugh raiden is impossible. im playing the ROM and all the differnt color weapons are throwing me off.
Heh megaman X was errh .. too friggin hard
i could hardly beat it with cheating
megaman x was way too hard idd
best memories of finishing a game after a long long long loooong time trying was Super Mario on the gameboy.
The complete neighbourhood was playing the game and I was the first to finnish it
Star Ocean 2, doesn't matter how much you levelled up, the baddies did the same as you developed so they just got stronger too. The hardest RPG I have ever played, hands down.
Sudden Strike, Crikey that was tough, so easy to lose men/tanks/trucks to an enemy you had no way of spotting until they open fire.
double dragon for game boy. i never ever completed that game... always died on the last level.. pissed me off so much.
