it actually took me a while to complete majora's mask 100%, casue some of those games were tough. compared to ocarina of time it was much harder to get 100%.

IM playing OCarina of time RIght now on GC even though i passed it like in the 7th grade.THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Posted by Ray7455 on Apr-26-2004 06:42:

todays games arent nearly as difficult as nes games were, just because nes games couldnt be long and there was no save option. so to make up for length they had to add difficulty to allow you to play the game for longer

nes: ninja gaiden (holy crap)
snes: ghouls and goblins

did anybody find hard the weird levels in super mario world? (gnarly, tubular, funky...etc)

Ah, Rainbow Road was easy once you'd mastered the 'Jump-Off-The-Track-Fly-For-Half-A-Year-And-Land-Back-On-The-Track' trick.

your post was refering to markio kart 64, which has the shortcut you speak of, the one the original poster was talking about was for snes, it was flat, there were no hills or ramps to jump off of, only little yellow springy jumps.
but why would you say mariokart was hard? i think the only thing that makes a game hard is shitty and unresponsive controls. give me any racecar game, and if its possible to haul ass around the track using 'hand brakes' and other things to make the sharp turns, give me 2-3 hours and ill be able to ace the game. its only when games make you downshift and brake and take turns actually slow, hence the shitty controls, when the game is 'hard'. we all want to haul ass around the track without letting go of the gas, and if a game implements a way where that IS possible then it has good controls, imo. but i spose we all like our games a little different.

indeed i did, weren't they in the middle of the secret 'star levels world' then it took you to a black area and went to the right level by level then up and back to the left.... i dont remember what the prize was, a shortcut???? that was so long ago...

agreed. that game is harrrrrrrd. another hard game was shinobi. which actually reminds me... has anyone mentioned the mega man games?! they are all fucking HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!

Posted by Magnus on Apr-27-2004 19:49:

Sinistron on the Turbo Grafx 16. Holy shit. One of the only games I never was able to beat. Years later however, I beat it using an emulator with the help of save states.

Posted by jpgrdnr on Apr-27-2004 20:18:

Might and Magic II: Gates to Another World.

Never ever finished it. Time travel would just screw me over. I bet its one of the CRPGs back in the day that was like so huge you needed to buy the hint book in order to play. You can cheat and beat it, but its not the same.

shaymus, i think if you try to do the bosses out of order, they're a bitch to beat

but each boss has a weakness that is another boss so if you do them in a 'correct' order ...easy as pie!

Posted by Shamez214 on Apr-28-2004 11:19:

yeah, but still. the games themselves are hard. think about how many times you heard that death sound in the game. they definitely werent easy

Posted by nuBe on May-11-2004 22:34:

oh god. the infernal "peeoo weeoo weeoo weeoo weeoo" sound of death. cant forget that one

Posted by PHALPAX on May-12-2004 00:16:

hhmmmmmmm.....the 1st resident evil

Posted by [ groovypants ] on May-12-2004 00:37:

hehe, anybody remember RAIDEN, the shoot-em-up vertical arcade game? Damn now thats a hard game, argh, spent so much money on those machines - never got to complete it. I think the furthest I'd ever got was the 4th or 5th stage LOL
Twin-Bee on the original Nintendo was awesome though very hard too!

Hell yes, I used to play the hell out of that game. I got really far in it once then just didnt know what I was supposed to be doing next. It was hard as hell. and remember those ultra annoying, loud, ear piercing sound effects?

another real hard one was Vanguard for the 2600/7800, i think i almost beat it once but God it was hard.

does anyone remember Turrican for Genesis? harder than hell

and let's not forget Shadow Of The Beast for Genesis, but I loved the hell outta that game!!

Posted by st3nc on May-15-2004 02:27:

ugh raiden is impossible. im playing the ROM and all the differnt color weapons are throwing me off.

Posted by Gotcha85 on May-18-2004 10:10:

Heh megaman X was errh .. too friggin hard

i could hardly beat it with cheating

Posted by Valhalla on May-18-2004 10:44:

megaman x was way too hard idd

best memories of finishing a game after a long long long loooong time trying was Super Mario on the gameboy.
The complete neighbourhood was playing the game and I was the first to finnish it

Star Ocean 2, doesn't matter how much you levelled up, the baddies did the same as you developed so they just got stronger too. The hardest RPG I have ever played, hands down.

Sudden Strike, Crikey that was tough, so easy to lose men/tanks/trucks to an enemy you had no way of spotting until they open fire.

Posted by Shudder on May-19-2004 03:56:

double dragon for game boy. i never ever completed that game... always died on the last level.. pissed me off so much.
